HOSTAGE DEAL: President Trump Scores Major Victory, Biden 'Tries' To Take Credit | JP
Many have started using the hashtag #TrumpFactor to describe the swift changes taking place since President Trump won re-election in November.
Even prior to the official start of his second term in the White House, national and international issues that have proven problematic suddenly seem solvable.
In keeping with the #TrumpFactor theme, President Trump announced a short time ago that a deal had been struck in the Middle East which would lead to the release of all hostages held by Hamas after the October 7th attack in 2023, and an end to the war in Gaza.
The rumor for the past few days was that a deal was close, but President Trump made it official with a short post on his TruthSocial account:
A short time later, he shared another longer post detailing some of the process that went into reaching the deal.
Notably, he made mention of the fact that this victory was won “without even being in the White House”:
Here is the full text of President Trump’s second post for easier viewing:
This EPIC ceasefire agreement could have only happened as a result of our Historic Victory in November, as it signaled to the entire World that my Administration would seek Peace and negotiate deals to ensure the safety of all Americans, and our Allies. I am thrilled American and Israeli hostages will be returning home to be reunited with their families and loved ones.
With this deal in place, my National Security team, through the efforts of Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, will continue to work closely with Israel and our Allies to make sure Gaza NEVER again becomes a terrorist safe haven. We will continue promoting PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH throughout the region, as we build upon the momentum of this ceasefire to further expand the Historic Abraham Accords. This is only the beginning of great things to come for America, and indeed, the World!
We have achieved so much without even being in the White House. Just imagine all of the wonderful things that will happen when I return to the White House, and my Administration is fully confirmed, so they can secure more Victories for the United States!
Not surprisingly, Biden came to the podium in the White House after President Trump announced the deal… acting as if the credit for the impending hostage release belonged to him, not Trump.
Flanked by Kamala and Secretary of State Blinken, Biden almost made it through his entire presser claiming the victory as his own.
He came out ready to claim responsibility without pushback, but watch what happened:
🚨Biden comes out and takes credit for hostage and ceasefire deal:
“It’s a very good afternoon, because at long last I can announce a cease fire.”

But it wasn’t until the trio had turned to walk away from the podium that a single reporter shouted out the question hanging in the air.
“Who gets credit for this, Mr. President – you, or Trump?”
Watch Biden’s irritated reaction. And the look of disdain on all three of their faces is bone chilling, and hilarious at the same time.
The deal is 100% due to Trump. Biden knows it. Kamala knows it. Hamas knows it. Trump promised there’d be “hell to pay” if hostages weren’t released by inauguration. pic.twitter.com/GCywL2KN5p

That might be our best glimpse of what #TrumpFactor looks like from within the Biden-Harris White House so far!
None of them are used to getting that much pushback from your average reporter when they try to claim a victory that was obviously not theirs to claim.
In fact, check this out — even the Arab officials representing Qatar and Egypt involved in the deal quickly came out rebuking Biden for claiming credit!
According to them, it was 100% the #TrumpFactor!
🚨 BREAKING: Hostage and ceasefire deal in Gaza had nothing to do with Biden, Arab officials say.
The deal today came after Trump’s incoming Middle East envoy STEVE WITKOFF met with Netanyahu.

In fact, a third Arab official representing one of the mediating nations involved in the deal pointed out that it was Blinken and Biden’s lack of strength during past negotiations that kept previous potential deals from proving successful, according to the Times of Israel:
A “tense” weekend meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and incoming Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff led to a breakthrough in the hostage negotiations, with the top aide to US President-elect Donald Trump doing more to sway the premier in a single sit-down than outgoing President Joe Biden did all year, two Arab officials told The Times of Israel on Tuesday.
A third Arab official from one of the mediating countries argued that concerns of domestic political pushback in the middle of an election season kept Biden from putting more public pressure on Israel.
He pointed to a meeting Blinken held with Netanyahu in August after which the secretary announced that the Israeli premier had accepted a US bridging proposal for a hostage deal. Netanyahu also announced that he had accepted the US bridging proposal. The Arab official, along with a member of Israel’s negotiation team, told The Times of Israel that this was emphatically not what had unfolded in the meeting and that Blinken’s comments had thrown a major wrench in that round of talks, which ultimately fell apart.
And as if that wasn’t enough awkward humiliation for the Biden-Harris team, his own people came out after his press conference confirming that Trump deserved the credit!
Biden’s own State Department officials completely contradicted him within minutes of his refusal to concede that the #TrumpFactor had sealed the deal!

Even without all the actors involved (except Biden, Kamala, and Blinken) openly giving President Trump the credit he deserves, it’s almost impossible to deny the potency of his warning to Hamas just last week:
JUST IN: President Biden takes credit for the Israel-Hamas hostage agreement, which happened to come together just days before Trump takes office.
Yes, Biden is the reason this deal came together 🤡

The ceasefire associated with the hostage release deal is reportedly designed to occur in three states, according to a report by the New York Post:
The cease-fire detail contains three phases, with the first lasting six weeks and specifying the release of women, elderly and wounded hostages and an Israeli pullback from parts of Gaza, in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and the return of displaced civilians.
The second phase entails a permanent end to the war. If those negotiations take longer than six weeks, the ceasefire will continue.
The second phase would include the release of Israeli soldiers taken hostage, including dual US-Israeli citizens such as 20-year-old New Jersey native Edan Alexander, who was featured in a late November hostage video.
A major reconstruction project and the return of hostage remains would be the third phase.
It’s unclear how many American hostages remain alive in Gaza, with Biden saying Wednesday that “all the exact detail of how many people are being held, how many bodies are being returned to us, will all be forthcoming.”
Trump’s administration will preside over the implementation of the terms, the president noted.
Amazingly to some, expected by others, a return of solid and competent leadership to Washington is clearly impactful.
The fact that 94 hostages remain more than a year later — including Americans — and simply the promise of a change in leadership is creating solutions where none could previously be found is a direct reflection of just how much leadership matters.
The deal would still need to be officially approved by the Israeli government.
Some details are still being worked out, but are expected to be finalized tonight according to reporting in The Hill quoting Netanyahu:
While the Israeli government still needs to approve the terms of the deal, a Qatari official said it is likely to be implemented on Sunday, with the exact timing to be announced later.
The deal would open the door for a possible end to more than a year of fighting since Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, attack against Israel, and Israel’s subsequent war against the U.S.-designated terrorist group in the Gaza Strip.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said later Wednesday that some details were still being worked out, adding it was hopeful the deal would be “finalized tonight.”
The Israeli Security Cabinet will have to vote to accept the terms of the deal, and then a second vote will go before Israel’s parliament, the Knesset. If it passes both those votes, there will also be time for appeals against the deal to be brought to the Supreme Court.
President Trump makes a deal that Biden had more than a year to pull off, but couldn’t — while Biden sleeps in the White House, and Trump isn’t even officially the President yet!
President Trump announces the deal had been struck, and Biden follows that with a claim of credit that even the reporters didn’t buy.
And then, everyone from Arab mediators, the Israeli press, and Biden’s own State Department point out that President Trump got the deal done, not Biden.
If that isn’t a microcosm of the last few years, and a perfect example of Biden’s pretend leadership versus President Trump’s true leadership qualities, I don’t know what is.
