Hollywood ‘It Girl’ Revealed As Registered Republican
President Donald Trump has rave reviews of a new commercial by Sydney Sweeney, Hollywood’s latest ubiquitous celebrity, after reporters uncovered that the controversial star has been a registered Republican in her home state since at least last year.
Sweeney, 27, vaulted to early prominence from her role in the popular HBO drama “Euphoria” before going on to host “Saturday Night Live” last year, an appearance that kicked her newfound attention into high gear.
Since then, Sweeney has been everywhere all at once, signing up for a smorgasbord of TV ad campaigns as she seeks to profit off the notoriety. In interviews, she has spoken candidly about watching her parents lose their house to bankruptcy right as she began her acting career.
So it was that Sweeney agreed to appear in a new commercial for apparel maker American Eagle. In the 30-second ad, Sweeney is seen lying on her side in a hip-hugging and voluptuous jean suit while crediting her “great jeans” for her attractive looks.
The controversial commercial sparked a public debate over accusations of racial superiority and insensitivity by American Eagle. Those concerns were compounded when reporters discovered that Sweeney had been a registered Republican in Florida dating back to 2024.
President Trump, returning to the White House on Sunday, was offered the opportunity to weigh in with his own thoughts about Sweeney’s political leanings.
“She’s a registered Republican?” he asked in response to a reporter’s question.
“Oh, now I love her ad,” he went on, calling it “fantastic.”
The President added, “You’d be surprised at how many people are Republicans. That’s what I wouldn’t have known, but I’m glad you told me that. If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic.”

Public voting records show that Sweeney, 27, registered with the Republican Party of Monroe County in June 2024.
While some critics have tried to cancel Sweeney and American Eagle for what they claim is a eugenics-driven message of hate, others praised the duo for proving that anti-woke advertising can still be successful.
In the clip, a slogan states, “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Genes.” Sweeney walks up to the wording and crosses out “Genes” with “Jeans” before walking away.
Vice President J.D. Vance poked fun at Democrats’ fumbled messaging around the ad, including social media condemnation of Sweeney as a Nazi.
“My political advice to the Democrats is to continue to call everybody who thinks Sydney Sweeney is attractive a ‘Nazi.’ That appears to be their actual strategy,” he joked Friday on the “Ruthless” podcast, Fox News reported.
