The Golden Bachelorette star Joan Vassos reacts to the Bachelor in Paradise twist for season 10, exclusively telling Life & Style that she expects it to be “really interesting.”

“I love it. I think it’s such a cool opportunity. I’ve always been a huge fan of Paradise. I feel like they have a lot of really good outcomes after Paradise. A lot of couples, strong couples, have come off of there,” Joan, 62, exclusively tells Life & Style while promoting her role as an ambassador for PanCAN PurpleStride. “A lot of people that are married, a lot of kids have now come out of Paradise. So, it’s kind of like your second [chance of] being on TV and dating.”

After fans watched The Bachelor season 29 finale, host Jesse Palmer announced that Bachelor in Paradise was coming back. In a surprising twist, the new season will feature stars from both the original franchise, as well as The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette.

“Some people do it better when they get there, and you also have a lot more opportunity to connect. There’s a lot more downtime where you’re together. It’s not as arranged,” Joan points out about how Bachelor in Paradise is different from the franchise’s other shows. “You’re not going on a date. You’re, like, hanging out on the beach together.”

After noting that she loves the “opportunity” for her fellow Golden stars, she continues, “I have been thinking that some of The Golden Bachelor women and Golden Bachelorette men would be good matches. It’s hard to get everybody together. They’re all over the country.”

“This is finally the opportunity where people are going to meet each other. Some of them have met, but a lot of them haven’t and I think it’s going to be really good TV to watch because everybody’s fallen in love with these people already,” Joan says. “I mean, the guys from my season, they were more popular than me. Everyone loved their stories and same with the women from The Golden Bachelor. People fell in love with them, so I think it’s going to be great TV. I think it’s going to be really interesting.”

While Gary Levingston and Leslie Fhima have already been announced as some of the Golden stars on the season, Joan adds who else she would like to see on the show.

“I’m close with a lot of the women from The Golden Bachelor. That was part of the thing about being on that show, we all have so much in common. We kind of had our tribe. So, I don’t think there’s a single person from The Golden Bachelor that I wouldn’t think would be great on the show,” Joan says. “I feel the same way about the men from my season.”

Joan adds that the men who competed on season 1 of The Golden Bachelorette “opened up and grew a lot during the season.”

“They said that they kind of had therapy sessions while they were in the mansion. I think that it gave them some confidence that a lot of them have paired off,” Joan continues about the men on her season. “There are a lot of men from my season that have girlfriends now. Some of them have taken themselves out of the running to be on Paradise, but whoever isn’t dating anybody seriously, I think would be great on the show. I can’t possibly pick one. They all deserve to be on it.”

Joan adds that she’s “tried to do a little matchmaking already” with the stars of The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette.

“I tried to match three different couples and none of them worked. So, I don’t know if my matchmaking ability is all that good,” she says. “I’m not sure if I see it that well, but I think they’re trying to meet over texting and that just doesn’t work. Them being together is going to be a completely different thing.”
