Globalist “Diversity” Push: Purposely Making the West “Less White” — and Much less Patriotic
[***]
“What do you think of Birmingham Cathedral?” the man was asked. “It’s s***,” he replied, “but it’s a nice place to smoke weed. They’re not my ancestors — I don’t care.”
The fellow making this statement had obviously been raised in the U.K.; he spoke with a typical British accent. But he clearly had no use for “his” country’s culture.
How many Birmingham residents share his “I don’t care” sentiment is a question. But for sure is that many could join him in saying, “They’re not my ancestors.” Birmingham is, after all, a “British” city that is now majority non-indigenous. Or, put differently, it’s majority black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) — aka majority non-white. This is called “diversity” and is supposedly a good thing.
It’s considered so good, in fact, that now there’s an official effort to make Britain’s countryside more like Birmingham. (That is, “less white.”) As The Telegraph explains:
National Landscapes — previously called areas of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) — and their local councils have since committed to a number of diversity targets.
Documenting Demographic Disaster
The U.K.’s transformation — which merely reflects that of the West generally — has long been noted. In 2011 already, famed British comic actor John Cleese observed that “London is no longer an English city.” In fact, he and a Californian friend walked down the King’s Road, Cleese related, and his buddy asked, “Where are all the English people?”
This brings us to the quoted weed smoker. He’s featured in a new documentary that is, commentator Olivia Murray reported Monday,
being released by Edward Dutton, also known as the Jolly Heretic, [and is] titled “The Yookay,” and it’s an exploration of how catastrophic “diversity” has been for Europe (in this case England), and the white, Christian West as a whole. And, the entire documentary could no doubt be summed up by one exchange, between Dutton and some random third world heritage “Brit” walking through the grounds of Birmingham….
The exchange follows (language warning).
Birmingham is now, at 51.4 percent non-indigenous, one of two majority BAME British cities. The other is Leicester, at 40.9 percent non-indigenous (non-white). Of course, since this is according to the 2021 census, the indigenous’ numbers are surely even lower now.
Birmingham’s indigenous figure is down notably, too, from 2011’s number: 57.9 percent. The city is also now approximately 30 percent Muslim, versus 34 percent Christian. The latter figure has declined 12 points from 2011. Moreover, since European “Christians” are generally so in name only, this means all the zeal lies with the Islamic residents.
Culture Is Not Fungible
As for the Birmingham Cathedral, which weed man characterized scatologically, Murray provides some history. She writes that the structure
is a resplendent work of English Baroque architecture, and was consecrated in the early 1700s. Every aspect of the church, from the weather vane to the stained glass windows, drips with some of the richest history the West has to offer — which is all “s[***]” to the pothead in the park, who … “hates” the cathedral because of what it represents: European and Christian greatness. The resentment is even more obvious when he says this: “It’s not my ancestors….”
And it’s not an uncommon sentiment. I heard this years ago from a schoolteacher respondent who contacted me. He said that he got, essentially, the “not my ancestors” response when trying to teach “Mexican” students American history.
Then there’s a Substack writer named Kari Stark, explaining how the Somali mentality transforms Minnesota nice into Minnesota vice. Relating that she made Somali friends while residing in that state, she recounted an eye-opening conversation.
After mentioning to one Somali acquaintance that lying for political gain is short-sighted, the person replied, “Why would I care about that? They’re not my tribe. Those are your rules, not ours.” Nothing did more than that experience, she confessed, to move her “to the right.”
But in such words “lie the crux of the issue,” Murray opines: “heritage matters.” She continues,
and heritage is not a matter of documentation or paperwork citizenship, but of shared culture, ancestry, and tradition. The man speaking to Dutton [weed man] is not English, despite the fact that he probably was born there. The ancestors of true Englanders are the men and women who labored for Birmingham Cathedral, or, progenitors of men like Dutton.
“We’re Being Colonized”
But the immigrationist globalists see things differently, and they want to Birminghamize all Britain. This brings us back to the Telegraph story. As the paper wrote Monday:
The British countryside will be made into a less “white environment” under nationwide diversity plans.
Officials in rural areas, including the Chilterns and the Cotswolds, have pledged to attract more minorities under plans drawn up by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra).
The plans follow Defra-commissioned reports that claimed the countryside would become “irrelevant” in a multicultural society, as it was a “white environment” principally enjoyed by the “white middle class”.
Enjoyed by white people — oh, the humanity!
The Defra report is full of woke-speak, too. A sampling (quotations from The Telegraph):
- Local governments have “committed to a number of diversity targets.”
- They aim to “attract more Muslims to the area [Chilterns].”
- “More diverse staff will be recruited, marketing material will be produced featuring people visibly from ethnic minorities, and written in ‘community languages’.”
- Some research “suggests that dogs should be kept under tighter control, as some groups are scared of them.”
“Some groups”? Would those include the Amish, Zoroastrians, Taoists, or Mithraists? Specificity was not provided.
Interestingly, too, “diversity,” per se, is not always appreciated by those touting it most passionately. For example, consider the phenomenon whereby white “dotcommers” organically began moving into San Francisco’s mainly Hispanic Mission District neighborhood. In 2015, The New York Times pejoratively described this demographic change as the “bleaching out” of the area’s “Latino culture.” Apparently, some diversity phenomena are more equal than others.
As to the double standard, commentator and ex-ambassador Alan Keyes put it well years ago. Referencing American immigration-borne demographic change, he said, “We’re being colonized.” And colonizers don’t play fair — they play to win.
