Former Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief: 'World War III Has Begun'
The former leader of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, declared that World War Three had officially started as tensions boiled over between NATO and Russia.
Zaluzhnyi, who served as Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief before President Zelensky sidelined him earlier this year, warned the world not to remain complacent as the world teeters on the edge of armageddon.
“I believe that in 2024 we can absolutely believe that World War III has begun,” Zaluzhnyi said during a speech at the Ukrainska Pravda’s UP100 award ceremony on Friday.
Zaluzhnyi said that his homeland was already embroiled in an international conflict.
“What we have been waiting for so long has already begun. But I want to say that God himself gives a chance, not only to Ukraine but also all over the world, to have time to make the right conclusions now,” he said.

Zaluzhnyi added:
“You can still stop here, on the territory of Ukraine. But for some reason our partners do not want to understand this.
“There are already too many enemies in Ukraine. Ukraine will survive through technology, but it is unknown whether it will be able to win this battle on its own. So I think the World War, welcome, it has begun.”
Zaluzhnyi’s remarks came following significant escalations in the Ukraine war after U.S. President Joe Biden had authorised Kyiv to use long-range ATACMS missiles against targets within Russia.
The UK followed suit and signed off on UK-made Storm Shadow long-range missiles, which reportedly hit targets in the Russian region of Kursk on Wednesday.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin responded to the provation by updating Moscow’s nuclear doctrine, now stating that “any attack” sponsored by a third-party nuclear power would justify a nuclear retaliation.
Meanwhile, European countries like Sweden began advising citizens on how to stock up on food and prepare for war.
According to a report from the Daily Mail:
“Sweden is sending out five million pamphlets to residents urging them to prepare for the possibility of war, with instructions on how to stockpile food and even seek shelter during a nuclear attack, as fears grow of a conflict between Russia and NATO.“
The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) has sent out the booklet, ‘If Crisis or War Comes.’
“‘The global security situation increases the risks that nuclear weapons could be used. In the event of an attack with nuclear, biological or chemical weapons, take cover in the same way as in an air attack,’ the pamphlet instructs readers.
“Shelter provides the best protection. After a couple of days, the radiation has decreased significantly,’ it advises, adding that people will be warned of attacks over the radio and should go to basements or subways if there is no better option.”
It adds:
‘If Sweden is attacked by another country, we will never give up. All information to the effect that resistance is to cease is false.’
