Former SNL Star Shut Down While Sharing Bible Verses That ‘God Hates Sodomy’ (Video) ⋆ JP

Veteran “Saturday Night Live” star Victoria Jackson appeared at a public meeting in Franklin, Tennessee, this week to share her opposition to gay pride events being supported by the municipality.

She instantly became the target of jokes and vitriol by intolerant commenters who appeared unwilling to allow her to have, and express, her own beliefs.

Her comments, including her quotations from the Bible:

Jackson took to the podium to comment on a planned gay pride parade, noting that God “hates” sodomy, sexual immorality and pride.

“Like, one of the things he hates most is pride,” she explained, citing the Bible.

“Proverbs 11:12: When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished. … Proverbs 16:18: Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Recalling the Bible’s account of Sodom and Gomorrah, Jackson said that clearly documents that “God hates sodomy, and sexual immorality and pride.”

Barely a minute into her comments, she was gaveled into silence by officials running the meeting.

Jackson was with SNL from 1986 to 1992, and since then repeatedly has spoken out boldly about her faith, sometimes with her signature ukelele in hand.

During the era of Barack Obama in the White House, she poked fun at him for being an “Islamic jihadist” and her satire song, “There’s a Communist Living in the White House.”

She has criticized the deterioration in the comedy industry in recent years.

“Now the agenda is so blatant. It’s obvious that they want to push a far-left agenda to indoctrinate a new generation. They couldn’t even tell a joke about Obama. When Alec Baldwin does [former President Donald] Trump, it’s done with hate. When we did political figures, it was with love and humor,” she explained.

Jackson did get some support online for her stand at Tuesday’s meeting.

Wrote one commenter in a New York publication, “All the people chiming in that don’t know her from SNL, she was part of SNL when it was a relevant show, and actually quite funny. A cast that rivaled the original cast in terms of talent and comedy. Today’s SNL is unwatchable.”

Said another, “You’re absolutely correct about SNL being unwatchable now. Victoria’s only exercising her right to Free Speech. Perfectly fine.”

Yet another, “The NY Post describes her comments as ‘rants.’ To me, she was simply testifying to her faith using biblical scripture — and doing so at a pretty normal voice level. I’ve seen too many news clips of politicians and ‘community activists’ ACTUALLY ranting to put her in the same category.”

Reached late in the day by WND, Victoria Jackson opened up in depth about her experience:

“My little one-minute speech sure got a lot of attention,” she said. “It seems that millions of people agree with me. We are worried about our children who are being inundated with sexual immorality. Their innocence is being stolen.

“I was one of hundreds who showed up for the Gay Pride Parade vote. People with Rainbow Flags and ‘Protect All Children’ stickers crowded the standing-room-only halls. Our sweet little Mayberry RFD town, once heaven-on-earth, “innocently” allowed the Gay Pride Parade last year and people were appalled at the pornographic sights and sounds gyrating in front of their children.

“Since California went communist, Nashville has been flooded with Californians. Many are bringing their liberal politics and anti-God views. So, this spiritual battle is now in the Bible Belt.

“I wanted to remind people what God did to Sodom and Gomorrah. It’s pretty clear how God feels about sodomy. It’s also fascinating that you can see the remains of that cursed city today, in Israel, frozen in sulfur.

“Also, pride. God hates pride.”

The SNL veteran added: “The reason I was shouting at the end of my speech isn’t because I was on a ‘homophobic rant,’ as TMZ said, but because the mayor was pounding his gavel on my most important last sentence: ‘I want to encourage this generation not to be brainwashed and go to Becket Cook’s YouTube channel!’

“Becket Cook is a powerful voice on this topic ever since he left his gay lifestyle of over 20 years to follow Jesus. He went to seminary at Biola, and when his book, ‘A Change of Affection,’ came out he lost his successful Hollywood career. He speaks to young people and tells them that the culture is lying to them and that true peace and purpose come from Christ.

“A fellow SNL alum texted me after the story broke and said I should love everyone. I replied, ‘I do.’ Another friend texted, ‘You shouldn’t hate gay people.’ I don’t. Did they hear a word I said? So, I got to share the gospel with them. God’s holiness cannot accept sin. But, His love made Him become human and die on the cross for our sins. He rose from the grave to redeem us. ‘The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.’ (Romans 6:23)

“After 106 citizens spoke for one minute each – my favorite quote was ‘Why would a grown man want to wear lingerie and dance in front of children?’ – the council members deliberated for hours. The vote was 4-4 and the mayor broke the tie with a yes. Guess we’ll have to keep the armor of God on and keep fighting this spiritual battle, Ephesians 6, until the King returns. God loves the gay community, but He has a better Way.”

Victoria Jackson closed her comments to WND, texted from an airplane, with one more quote from the Bible: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
