FBI Probes Left-Wing Teams for Potential Ties to Charlie Kirk Assassination
The FBI has opened an investigation into left-wing groups in Utah over potential prior knowledge of the assassination of Charlie Kirk, according to a report from Axios.
The suspected killer, Tyler Robinson, was living with a “transgender partner” prior to carrying out the attack, Fox News reported.
That report has since been confirmed by several additional outlets.
According to public records, Lance Twiggs, 22, resided at the same address where Robinson lived. A relative confirmed to the New York Post that “yes, they were roommates.”
The family member said that Twiggs was the “black sheep” of their St. George, Utah family, adding that she was not aware of Twiggs’ politics or whether he was in the process of transitioning genders, though she added that it would not surprise her.
Trending Politics reports that a neighbor did tell reporters he saw the two men kissing and holding hands on more than one occasion. Another neighbor claimed to The Post that two weeks ago, several people, driving cars with out-of-state plates, were seen going in and out.
“They did not give off a good vibe,” the neighbor said.
According to a bombshell report from Axios citing six sources familiar with the investigation, investigators believe the shooter saw Kirk’s views on transgenderism as “hateful” to Twiggs.
Investigators further believe that Robinson’s anger at Kirk’s views could be key to establishing a motive in the shocking political assassination that has sent shockwaves across the world.
Each of the six sources familiar with the investigation told Axios that authorities do indeed believe Robinson was in a romantic relationship with Twiggs.
They further stated that investigators initially preferred to keep the individual’s gender identity from the public because they were being “extremely cooperative” with authorities.
One of the sources said Twiggs was “aghast” at the killing when initially approached by investigators and promptly turned over electronic messages sent by Robinson.
“That’s what happened? Oh my God, no,” the roommate said, according to the source. “Here are all the messages.”
The sender of the messages in question was listed as “Tyler,” who had mentioned that after the shooting, he discarded the bolt-action rifle he used in a wooded area just outside the Utah Valley University campus.
“Tyler” also told the roommate in writing that the rifle would have to be retrieved, Utah Governor Spencer Cox said at a press conference Friday.
Federal and state law enforcement agencies are also investigating several left-wing groups in Utah to determine whether any of them had advanced knowledge of the shooter’s plans, or if they assisted him after the fact. One of the groups in question deleted its social media presence immediately after the shooting, Axios reported.
Family members and friends have reported that Robinson became “increasingly political” in recent years and had expressed interest in attending Kirk’s upcoming debate at Utah Valley.
Governor Cox stated at the news conference that the accused shooter recently had a conversation in which someone said Kirk “was spreading hate and was full of hate.”
The suspected gunman also engraved a message reading “hey fascist, catch” and another that referenced an Italian communist song that has become popular among Antifa-linked groups on shell casings.
