Eric Swalwell’s Attack on Trump Backfires as DC Crime Plummets

Rep. Eric Swalwell’s latest attack on President Donald Trump has backfired after he shared a post on X, ripping the president for his federal takeover of Washington, D.C., police and the deployment of National Guard troops.

“It’s been 10 days since Trump militarized DC. Crime is on the rise. Trump owns it,” the post reads.

But despite his claims, video clips have been circulating showing law enforcement taking criminals off the streets in large numbers, with many of them being illegal aliens, according to Twitchy.

The report also took a swipe at Swalwell, reminding him that just because arrest numbers spike doesn’t mean crime is going up.

The outlet further pointed out what the last week has looked like.

DC has been without a single murder for an entire week, which has not happened since March, according to Fox News.

For comparison, when Rudy Giuliani was in his first term as mayor of New York City, there was a 60 percent drop in the murder rate, followed by a 56 percent drop in overall violent crime, all within a two-year span.

One of the moves that contributed most to his success was that he immediately shut down adult movie theaters located in Times Square.

This move reduced drugs, prostitution, and violence in the area.

Many are now asking why the kind of steps being taken following the federal government’s intervention weren’t tried by blue cities sooner.

The same strategy used in New York back in the early 1990s is working just as well in DC today, according to Fox columnist David Marcus.

Marcus points out that part of the reason these actions weren’t taken sooner was due to liberal backlash to the policies when they were first implemented.

Liberals pushed for cashless bail, called for reduced police forces, and supported George Soros-funded district attorneys, which led to the loss of many gains in the battle against crime, he wrote.

Many Trump supporters now wonder if other major cities in the country will take similar measures on their own to try and lower crime rates.

For those up for re-election in those areas, it seems like a smart choice.
