Emilio Gonzalez Is Residents’ Candidate In Miami Mayoral Race – JP
Doral, Florida — The two candidates in the City of Miami mayoral runoff are defining themselves by the company they keep as they campaign ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, December 9. As many Cuban grandmothers like to say: Tell me who you walk with, and I’ll tell you who you are.
Citizens’ Candidate
Emilio Gonzalez has spent his time attending Republican events and motivating the grassroots volunteers who are knocking on doors to turn out core Republican voters, as well as persuading unaffiliated voters to support him. This week, he will close out with a lunch event hosted by Republican attorneys.
During this time, he has secured endorsements from several prominent political leaders, including:
1. President Donald Trump
2. Governor Ron DeSantis
3. Senator Rick Scott
4. Senator Ted Cruz
5. Congressman Byron Donalds
6. Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins
7. Former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner
Developers’ Candidate
Eileen Higgins, meanwhile— the cool-headed engineer turned woke progressive technocrat—has spent her time with her major donors. Last Monday, she dedicated her lunchtime to an event hosted by local real estate developers, including:
1. Barrow, Radell, Fernandez, Larkin & Tapanes
2. Jose Gonzalez and Maria Lievano-Cruz
3. Adler Properties and Sara Adler
4. Jonathan Raiffe
5. Integra Investments
6. Nelson Stabile
The event welcomed donations of up to $1,000 directly to Higgins’ campaign, or unlimited contributions to her Ethical Leadership for Miami PAC.
Higgins is also connected to two of the most criticized sub-districts in Miami’s city government:
1. The Miami Downtown Development Authority, criticized by James Torres and the Downtown Neighbors Association for ignoring sanitation and security problems while dispensing subsidies to wealthy multinational corporations.
2. The Morningside Civic Association, an instrument of Commissioner Damian Pardo, who voted to postpone the city elections until next year without seeking voter approval.
The Citizens Shall Judge
The runoff election for Mayor of the City of Miami is between:
1. Emilio Gonzalez, a conservative Republican administrator who promises to restore integrity and accountability to city government; and
2. Eileen Higgins, a woke progressive Democrat who claims to offer technocratic expertise but in reality would serve as a puppet for Miami’s real estate developers.
