Elon Musk Fires Back at NYT with Drug Test Receipts: “They Lied Through Their Teeth”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk fired back at the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, accusing them of lying “through their teeth” in recent reports alleging drug use.

Musk posted drug test results from June 18 showing he had tested negative for a slew of chemicals.

The New York Times had previously published a report headlined: “On the Campaign Trail, Elon Musk Juggled Drugs and Family Drama.”

According to the report, Musk turned to drugs during the 2024 campaign “well beyond occasional use.”

“The WSJ & New York Times fake ‘journalists’ lied through their teeth about me,” Musk posted.

“Now let’s see their drug test results. They will fail.”

The test would have shown if Musk had taken drugs recently, though it would not necessarily catch drugs taken months ago.

The Wall Street Journal also reported on Musk’s alleged drug use in 2024, with a headline titled: “Elon Musk Has Used Illegal Drugs, Worrying Leaders at Tesla and SpaceX.”

The report claimed Musk would consume drugs such as “LSD, cocaine, ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms” at private parties, where attendees were required to sign non-disclosure agreements.

Musk addressed the subject of drug use with his biographer, telling Walter Isaacson, “I really don’t like doing illegal drugs.”

The tech billionaire admitted he took prescribed amounts of ketamine – about once every two weeks – for depression, according to the Times report.

Musk is no stranger to calling out legacy media outlets.

During a press conference in the Oval Office last month, Musk slammed the Times for its coverage of the Russia collusion conspiracy that dominated President Trump’s first term.

“The New York Times, is that the same publication that got a Pulitzer Prize for false reporting on the Russia-Gate? Is that the same organization?” Musk asked when questioned about a Times article.

“I think it is. … That New York Times? Let’s move on.”
