Did Netflix Reveal When the 'Stranger Things 5' Teaser Trailer Drops?

After years of waiting to see what happens with Eleven and the rest of her friends in Hawkins, Stranger Things 5 will finally hit Netflix at some point in 2025. However, fans are desperate for any bit of information they can find about the upcoming season, and they might finally have something to chew on with a possible release date for the Stranger Things 5 teaser trailer.

Did Netflix Reveal the ‘Stranger Things 5’ Teaser Trailer Date?

On May 4, 2025, the official Instagram account for Netflix South Africa shared what looked like an AI generated photo of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) watching the iconic bike scene from Stranger Things season 1, according to Netflix Junkie.

“Some #StrangerThings nostalgia,” the since-deleted image was captioned. “The first teaser for Stranger Things 5 released on May 31.”

Netflix previously revealed that Stranger Things 5 would be one of the shows talked about at Tudum, the streamer’s global fan event, on May 31, 2025, but they were tight-lipped on exactly what fans could expect. However, now, it looks like viewers are getting at least a sneak peek of the upcoming season with a Stranger Things 5 teaser trailer.

What Do Fans Know About ‘Stranger Things 5’ So Far?

Stranger Things 5 got hit with delays due to the writers’ strikes shortly before the cast and crew were set to return to begin filming the final season. Season 4 premiered in 2022, and since then, information about the series’ final episodes has been scarce, aside from a few of the more obvious details, including which of the cast members are returning.

Along with the original foursome from season 1, fans will see Will, (Noah Schnapp), Max (Sadie Sink), Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Robin (Maya Hawke), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Hopper (David Harbour) and Joyce (Winona Ryder). Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators behind Stranger Things, also revealed that Stranger Things 5 would include a time jump. While they didn’t specify how big the time jump would be, there were a few details that hinted the final season would be set in 1987.

Shortly after the cast returned to begin filming Stranger Things 5, Ross shared some photos from the set. In one picture, Maya and Joe were in full costume and Joe was wearing a pair of Nike Air Max sneakers. Eagle-eyed fans quickly noted that those shoes debuted in March 1987.

In October 2024, popular Stranger Things fan account Stranger Universe shared behind-the-scenes photos, and one image included a school newsletter from Hawkins Elementary.

“As the holiday season approaches, we are excited to invite you to our annual Hawkins Elementary School Thanksgiving Celebration on Wednesday, November 25, 1987,” the letter read.

Netflix Revealed All the ‘Stranger Things 5’ Episode Titles

As if Netflix knew Stranger Things fans were getting restless, the platform previously revealed all of the episode titles for the final season. While all of the titles could hint at what’s to come for Eleven and her friends, episode 2’s title sparked a frenzy of theories from viewers.

Stranger Things 5 episode 2’s title was revealed to be “The Vanishing Of…” but the last few words were blurred out on purpose. While it’s a clear callback to the premiere episode, “The Vanishing of Will Byers,” it’s doubtful the Duffers would force Will to endure that again. Instead, with rumors swirling that Mike and Nancy’s younger sister, Holly Wheeler, would have a bigger role in Stranger Things 5, many theorized that Holly might be the unlucky victim this time around.
