Dems Demand Biden 'Get as Many Migrants into Country as Possible' Before Trump Inauguration
Democrats are lobbying President Joe Biden to get as many illegal migrants into the United States as possible before President-elect Donald Trump enters the White House in January.
Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Ben Ray Luján (D-NM), and Alex Padilla (D-CA) demanded Biden ward large groups of illegal aliens with immigration benefits before he leaves office.
In a letter to Biden, the senators wrote:
“In addition to supporting strong border security, we are eager to ensure that DACA recipients, TPS holders, and other immigrants who are critical members of our communities and economies are not forgotten during this busy time.”
The Senators are asking Biden to allow hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to extend their status for the maximum length of time.
They also request that Biden Biden extend and redesignate several countries for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) so that newly arrived migrants can remain in the U.S. while those already here can stay longer.

“What I take is what I hear from this incoming administration, they’re going to engage in mass deportation and nobody is safe,” Cortez Masto told MSNBC this week.
“That’s why I’m asking the administration to come in now to protect some of the immigrant communities — TPS recipients, DACA recipients.”
Earlier this month, Trump’s “border czar” nominee, Tom Homan, warned Democrats they could face jail time if they disrupt deportation efforts.
Homan warned that failing to comply with the deportation process would violate federal laws originally passed in 1952.
“There’s a clear line here, and they can’t cross a clear line,” the incoming border czar warned.
“I would suggest she read Title 8, United States Code 1324 (iii) that says you can’t harbor or conceal an illegal alien from federal law enforcement.”
“There are certain laws in place that they can’t cross, and I hope she doesn’t cross it,” Homan reiterated.
According to Title 8, United States Code 1324 (iii):
“Makes it an offense for any person who — knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law — conceals harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation.”
