Sporadic violence seems to be breaking out elsewhere in the Caribbean as Haiti becomes the latest place U.S. forces became involved in a firefight in the region. The American armed forces continue to target alleged drug boats off the Venezuelan and Pacific coasts.

Suspected gang members fired on U.S. Marines guarding the American embassy in Port-au-Prince on Nov. 13, Marine Corps spokesperson Capt. Steven Keenan reported, reported SOFX.

Keenan said the Marines returned fire but were unharmed. He did not reveal what sparked the attack or whether any attackers were hit. “U.S. Marines are committed to the safety and security of U.S. embassies worldwide and respond to all threats with professionalism and swift, disciplined action,” Keenan added.

The Trump administration continues to deploy large amounts of military firepower in the Caribbean Sea as the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Gerald S. Ford has arrived on-scene with an immense amount of firepower. The U.S. Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment has been seen operating off the coast of LATAM.

Venezuela, for its part, is warning it is gathering a large military force of its own, possibly with Colombian, Russian, or Chinese assistance, with weapons and/or manpower. Colombia has a well-trained army focused on mountain and jungle warfare.

The real agenda behind the American Caribbean buildup continues to elude geopolitical analysts, although many theories abound — human trafficking, fentanyl (chemical warfare) smuggling, election fraud in the United States, and natural resources are all theories.

Now, a theory on the training of terrorists by Hezbollah has entered the picture.

One thing is for sure, defense contractors are in business.

As fears mount that U.S. strikes against so-called “narco-terrorists” in the Caribbean could escalate into full-scale war with Venezuela, weapons makers are well positioned to benefit from the unprecedented U.S. military build-up in the region, not seen on such a scale in decades, and continues unabated, writes Responsible Statecraft.
