BREAKING: Trump to fulfill Mamdani at White House Friday
Trump had previously said he would consider a meeting.
President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he has agreed to meet with socialist mayor-elect of New York City Zohran Mamdani. The two will meet at the White House on Friday.
“Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran “Kwame” Mamdani, has asked for a meeting. We have agreed that this meeting will take place at the Oval Office on Friday, November 21st. Further details to follow!”
Trump had previously said he would consider meeting with the socialist 34-year-old after saying that Mamdani requested the meeting. Trump, born and raised in New York City, has repeatedly slammed Mamdani, who embraces socialism and is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.
Hailing from the far left of the Democrat Party, Mamdani has been endorsed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Liz Warren, Bernie Sanders, and other leftist lawmakers. Trump has indicated that New York City could recieve less federal funding under the new mayor.
Mamdani won the Democrat primary in June and went on to beat former Governor Andrew Cuomo and GOP candidate Curtis Sliwa in the general election. Incumbent Mayor Eric Adams dropped out of the race in September.
The mayor-elect was born in Uganda and came to the US with his filmmaker mother and anti-colonialism professor father when he was 7. He became a citizen in his late 20s.
