President-elect Donald Trump announced that he is appointing Kash Patel to serve as FBI director in his upcoming administration.

“I am proud to announce that Kashyap ‘Kash’ Patel will serve as the next Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” Trump announced in a Truth Social post on Saturday evening. “Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator, and ‘America First’ fighter who has spent his career exposing corruption, defending Justice, and protecting the American People. He played a pivotal role in uncovering the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, standing as an advocate for truth, accountability, and the Constitution.”

He added, “Kash did an incredible job during my First Term, where he served as Chief of Staff at the Department of Defense, Deputy Director of National Intelligence, and Senior Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council. Kash has also tried over 60 jury trials. This FBI will end the growing crime epidemic in America, dismantle the migrant criminal gangs, and stop the evil scourge of human and drug trafficking across the Border. Kash will work under our great Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to bring back Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity to the FBI.”

The announcement confirms that Trump will be firing current FBI Director Christopher Wray, who assumed the role after previous director James Comey was fired by Trump in 2017. Comey openly admitted to embedding FBI agents within the president’s transition team in order to pursue bogus allegations of collusion with the Russian government.

Wray’s FBI has remained anything but nonpartisan, as agents have ruthlessly conducted raids against Trump’s supporters for minor trespassing infractions on January 6, 2021.

Patel’s nomination will be wildly popular with Trump’s core base, which had been pushing for Patel to fill the role for weeks.

Reports previously surfaced that U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) — a former FBI special agent — was viewed as a top candidate for the role. Trump denied the reports, however.

Patel was long viewed as a top candidate for FBI director or deputy director due to his extensive experience in senior intelligence roles and loyalty to President-elect Trump. He has vowed to make sweeping changes to the bureau, in addition to declassifying troves of documents on the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking case, the debunked Russian collusion hoax and subsequent cleanup operation known as Crossfire Hurricane and the bogus letter claiming the Hunter Biden laptop story contained “hallmarks of a Russian disinformation campaign,” which was signed by 51 retired intelligence officials.

“You need a 24-7 declassification office, whatever you want to call it, transparency, truth, whatever, I don’t care. Sits in the White House, reports directly to you, and you take incoming from the United States of America. I want JFK. I want the 9-11 files. I want this, I want that,” Patel said during a recent appearance on the “Shawn Ryan Show.”

He has also vowed to turn the FBI’s headquarters in Washington D.C. into a “museum of the deep state” on day one before scattering agents across the country to conduct specified criminal investigations.
