Investigators have said that the relationship with the transgender roommate may be key to the motive in the killing of Kirk at UVU.

Authorities are investigating to see if Tyler Robinson’s relationship with a transgender individual was tied to his motive to allegedly murder Charlie Kirk in Utah on Wednesday this week, according to a report from Axios.

According to the outlet, investigators have said that the relationship with the transgender roommate may be key to the motive in the killing of Kirk at UVU.

Additionally, Axios reports that federal as well as state law enforcement have been looking into left-wing groups in Utah, to determine if the groups had any knowledge that the shooting would occur. Axios noted that one group took down its social media profile after the assassination took place.

The roommate is also a person of interest in the killing, according to law enforcement sources that spoke to Axios. “It’s pretty clear that Robinson’s roommate knew a lot and didn’t say anything after the killing, so they’re a person of interest officially and are cooperating,” an official said. “We want to keep it that way.”

“What we want to know is if anyone else had knowledge [of the shooting], before or after,” the official added.

Robinson has been identified as having radical left-wing views, according to Utah Governor Spencer Cox, which lines up with Antifa-linked phrases that were inscribed on bullet casing that were found at the crime scene.

Some media figures have pointed to false information that has been spread online about Robinson, such as a doctored photo of him in a Trump shirt, to paint him as a conservative. Others have pointed to Robinson’s upbringing in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to suggest he is more conservative. However, reports indicate he has not been to church in years.

Cox said that a family member told authorities that Robinson had taken issues with Kirk’s political views, and said that Kirk “was spreading hate and was full of hate.”

The phrases on the bullet casings included, “Hey fascist! Catch!” as well as lyrics from the song “Bella Ciao,” which has become a theme song linked to Antifa, but was historically an Italian folksong.
