“I think your message resonates with me. If I was a Canadian I’d vote for you, one-hundred percent.”

Podcast host Joe Rogan told his audience of more than 20 million subscribers that he would back Pierre Poilievre if he were Canadian, delivering what may be the largest public endorsement ever seen in Canadian politics.

“I think your message resonates with me. If I was a Canadian I’d vote for you, one-hundred percent,” Rogan said during a wide-ranging interview that touched on assisted suicide, housing, immigration, energy, tariffs, the justice system, the national debt, and Canada’s political landscape.

Poilievre later said he “used the podcast to argue in favor of removing” US tariffs and described the conversation as productive. “I think we had a great conversation,” he said, noting he also gifted Rogan a custom maple leaf kettlebell during the visit.

The interview addressed President Donald Trump, particularly his comments about making Canada the 51st state. Poilievre pushed back strongly, saying Canadians rejected the idea outright. The opposition leader didn’t directly blame Trump for his loss to Carney, but did allude to it having played a factor in the outcome, which saw Prime Minister Mark Carney swing the polls in one of, if not the largest comeback in Canadian electoral history.

“It is a crazy thing to say. Canada is not for sale. de’re never going to be the 51st state. We love Americans as neighbors and friends, but we want to be uniquely and we want to be sovereign as Canadians,” he said. Rogan agreed, calling the suggestion a “crazy thing to say.”

The Conservative leader has been in America meeting lawmakers and business leaders while advocating for tariff-free trade between the two countries. He is also scheduled to speak at the Foreign Policy Association in New York.
