BREAKING: Illegal alien murderer escapes prison, at large in Southeast PA area, new update by State Police
A multi-agency manhunt continues as authorities seek to capture Danelo Cavalcante, a 34-year-old illegal immigrant and convicted murderer, who escaped from the Chester County Prison outside of Philidelphia in Pocopson Township, Pennsylvania more than one week ago.
Cavalcante, an illegal immigrant from Brazil who was convicted of murdering his girlfriend in 2021, was allegedly seen driving a stolen van on Saturday night over 25 miles north of the suburban Philadelphia prison, according to the Pennsylvania State Police, Forbes reports.
The van that Cavalcante had been driving before reportedly abandoning it was a 2020 White Ford Transit (van) bearing PA registration ZST8818. The vehicle, which had a refrigeration unit on the top, was reported stolen by Baily’s Dairy, according to police.
Police believe Cavalcante abandoned the van in East Nantmeal Township, which is 14 miles to the west of Phoenixville, because it ran out of gas, and they anticipate hearing reports about another stolen car.
Additionally, according to the authorities, Cavalcante’s sister has been detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and will likely be deported. Despite being found guilty of murder in 2021, Cavalcante was never deported out of the United States.
State Police reported that he now has a clean-shaven appearance and is sporting the same attire as in the still images from the doorbell camera film that were made public on Saturday: a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt, a black baseball-style helmet, green prison pants, and white sneakers.
As 400 local, state, and federal officers continue to search for Cavalcante, the suspect was most recently spotted in Phoenixville, a small Chester County hamlet, on Saturday and twice on Friday.
This is a developing story.
