Pop singer Billie Eilish took to her Instagram story on Thursday to criticize Elon Musk for not a plan to end world hunger, calling the billionaire entrepreneur a “f*cking pathetic p*ssy b*tch coward.” In 2021, Musk had offered to fund a plan from the UN if they could describe how the money would solve the problem.
Eilish shared a series of infographics from the organization My Voice, My Choice, which stated that Musk could “choose to spend $40 billion every year to end world hunger by 2030 or provide universal safe clean water for $140 billion for the planet for the next seven years.”
The posts also said that Musk could spend upwards of $2 billion per year to bring the 10,443 animals that are listed as being critically endangered down to the status of endangered, as well as over $50 billion to held rebuild Gaza and the West Bank, or nearly $800 billion to rebuild Ukraine and Syria.
The final slide was written by Eilish, who wrote “etc…” followed by the string of expletives.
In 2021, then-head of the UN’s World Food Programme David Beasley told CNN that billionaires need to “step up now” to end world hunger, specifically citing Musk and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos. “$6 billion to help 42 million people that are literally going to die if we don’t reach them. It’s not complicated.”
Musk said at the time, “If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.”
The UN plan said that $6.6 billion would help “avert catastrophe,” offering “one meal a day, the basic needed to survive – costing US$0.43 per person per day, averaged out across the 43 countries. This would feed 42 million people for one year, and avert the risk of famine.”
This comes as Musk is set to receive a pay package that includes $1 trillion in Tesla shares if the company can reach its targets over the next 10 years.
