‘BIG MISTAKE’: Trump Says Obama May Be In Main Authorized Hassle

While speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One on Thursday, President Donald Trump suggested that his predecessor, former President Barack Obama, could be held accountable for sharing “classified information” in a recent interview.

Trump’s comments stem from Obama’s recent sit-down with left-wing political operative Brian Tyler Cohen, in which he discussed a wide range of topics from the Trump Administration to Democratic Party midterm election strategies.

A viral moment from the discussion came during a lightening round question period, when Cohen asked whether aliens were real. “They’re real, but I haven’t seen them, and they’re not being kept in, what is it, Area 51?” the former president answered.

“There’s no underground facility, unless there’s this enormous conspiracy, and they hid it from the president of the United States,” he added.

Following the viral spread of his podcast comments, Obama issued a clarification on social media, stating that his response was intended to align with the casual, rapid-fire nature of the questions.

“I was trying to stick with the spirit of the speed round, but since it’s gotten attention let me clarify. Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there’s life out there,” he wrote. “But the distances between solar systems are so great that the chances we’ve been visited by aliens is low, and I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us. Really!”

While speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One, President Trump suggested that Obama may have leaked classified information with his casual answer. “He gave classified information, he’s not supposed to be doing that,” Trump said.

The president described Obama’s answer as a “big mistake,” adding, “I don’t know if they’re real or not, I can tell you he gave classified information. He’s not supposed to be doing that. He made a big mistake. He took it out of classified information.”

The exchange between the two former presidents occurs amid ongoing congressional efforts to increase transparency around unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), the government’s preferred term for what are commonly known as UFOs

In 2021, an unclassified report on UAPs was released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, prompted by provisions in a COVID-19 relief bill. This led to the establishment of the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) under the Department of Defense, which was codified in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2022.

AARO is tasked with investigating, analyzing, and resolving UAP reports using a data-driven approach, and it collaborates with other agencies to produce annual reports to Congress.
