As Communist Crackdown Begins, AOC & Radical Dems Demand Biden Return Hospitalized Opposition Leader to Brazil

So much for the radical left’s purported support for political refugees. As a communist crackdown begins in Brazil, left-wing Democrats have begun demanding that President Joe Biden extradite Brazilian opposition leader Javier Bolsonaro to his home country to face expected political persecution.

The Democrats’ calls for extradition come as the former president of Brazil is reported to be hospitalized in Orlando with severe abdominal pains.

JP reported last Tuesday that Bolsonaro had a recent intestinal blockage and may need to undergo surgery. Bolsonaro has been experiencing medical issues since he was stabbed in 2018.

Bolsonaro was also recently spotted shopping at a Publix in Orlando, according to reports.

Pro-Bolsonaro demonstrators have risen up against the disputed election of socialist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The protesters stormed the headquarters of Brazil’s executive and legislative branches on Sunday.

As investigative journalist Merissa Hansen noted, Bolsonaro supported stormed the National Congress and demanded “we want the source code,” referring to election software used in the elections.

Brazil’s socialist former president Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, commonly known as Lula, reportedly won a tightly contested presidential election in late October with a margin of just under 2%.

Bolsonaro had a narrow 0.5% lead with 50% of precincts reporting, but in a familiar trend for left-wing candidates around the world, Lula was able to slowly pile up enough votes to overtake Bolsonaro.

In Brazil, there is a lack of paper ballots and chain of custody that allow for an independent audit of results. Electoral Court (TSE) judges blocked the attempt to institute a law that would require duplicate paper ballots of the vote receipts to ensure such an audit could be performed.

Bolsonaro supporters, prior to the 2022 election, would often shout at political rallies “give us paper ballots, give us auditable ballots.” However, these election integrity measures were not implemented.

Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Lula on his win, adding that China and Brazil’s “long-standing friendship is conducive to maintaining regional and world peace and stability and promoting common development and prosperity.”

Communists backing de Silva have now begun a military operation to round up the pro-Bolsonaro protesters and imprison them.

At least 1,300 people have been arrested thus far, including 40 children. Hundreds of buses were lined up in the capitol of Brazilia to take these protesters to the prison area of Complexo da Papuda where they will be held regardless of criminal charges and without a speedy trial.

Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes (STF) has also issued an order to hotels in Brasilia to reveal guests who have stayed in hotels since January 5th. Moraes also ordered the blocking of 200 opposition profiles on Facebook and Tiktok under a daily fine of R$100,000, according to the local Tupi Report on Telegram.

While the protests had developed into violent clashes with police, it is not immediately clear how many people have been injured and no deaths have been reported.

Radical Democrats have drawn parallels between the Brazilian protests and the Capitol Riots in Washingon D.C. on January 6.

“Two years ago out Capitol was attacked by fanatics, now we are watching it happen in Brazil,” Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) tweeted on Sunday. “Solidarity with [President] Lula and the Brazilian people. Democracies around the world must stand united to condemn this attack on democracy.”

“Bolsonaro should not be given refuge in Florida,” she added.

Fellow Squad member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) shared these pro-communist sentiments.

“The US must cease granting refuge to Bolsonaro in Florida,” she tweeted Sunday. “Nearly two years to the day the U.S. Capitol was attacked by fascists, we see fascist movements abroad attempt to do the same in Brazil.”

US Rep. Joaquin Castro, a Texas Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee, said on CNN Sunday that Bolsonaro had “used the Trump playbook to inspire domestic terrorists.”

These radical Democrats have thus far given no criticism of Lula de Silva’s oppressive government, nor its crackdown on political dissidents.

President Biden on Sunday condemned the “assault on democracy and on the peaceful transfer of power in Brazil” in a Twitter post and added that the situation was “outrageous.” Biden did not state if he would kick out Bolsonaro or send him back to his country.
