After winning her first ever MTV Video Music Award on Sunday, September 7, singer Rosé was overcome with emotion.

The 28-year-old performer won the MTV VMA for Song of the Year for her song “APT.” featuring Bruno Mars. “APT.” is a hit song from her first solo album Rosie.

Rosé rose to fame as a performer alongside her Blackpink counterparts.

After being named a MTV VMA winner, Rosé was stunned as she read from a piece of paper as to ensure she didn’t “mess this up.”

Toward the end of her speech, Rosé thanked her “loyal fans, number 1, for believing in me. Again, Bruno, my absolute idol and incredible teacher. I love you so much. I hope you’re proud.”

Rosé also personally thanked her fellow Blackpink members before thanking herself and sharing a message to her fans.

“Last but not least, this is heavy, as my therapist tells me to do every day I’d like to thank myself for not giving up even in the toughest of times, and always remember you’ve got you.”

Rosé concluded her speech by saying, “Thank you MTV for this award, and thank you everyone for loving APT. Thank you so much. This means so much to me.”
