AG Pam Bondi Throws Out Biden-Era DEI Lawsuits Against Police & Fire Departments | JP
Attorney General Pam Bondi has just dismissed several DEI lawsuits against police and fire departments across the nation.
The Biden-era lawsuits were filed against various police and fire departments accusing them of “discrimination” for requiring candidates to prove their merit through standard aptitude tests.
Yes, you read that right.
Essentially, leftists sued law enforcement and fire departments for requiring that candidates prove their skills in both physical and written exams. You know, so that the departments could chose the best man or woman for the job.
Opponents argued that these tests were racist or sexist because certain demographics did not perform as well as white males.

This move contributes to President Trump’s overall mandate to end woke DEI hiring practices — one and for all.
More details from Fox News:
The Department of Justice has dismissed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) lawsuits brought against various police and fire departments across the country under the Biden administration, which deemed aptitude tests in certain cases as discriminatory.
The lawsuits, which the DOJ said did not show evidence of intentional discrimination, were filed in efforts to require race-based hiring after statistical disparities between applicants of different races and genders.
“American communities deserve firefighters and police officers to be chosen for their skill and dedication to public safety – not to meet DEI quotas,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said.
Typically acknowledged in the proposed consent decrees, the departments used neutral selection tools, such as credit checks, exams and physical exercises, to choose candidates for the open positions, and White men tended to score or perform better.
For example, a case filed in October against the City of Durham (North Carolina), alleged “unintentional” discrimination against Black applicants because they did not pass the written test with a score of 70% or better as often as White candidates did, which resulted in fewer Black employees.
The complaint proposed getting rid of the neutral written test and “back pay and/or preferential hiring to Black candidates who were not hired because of the written exam” as solutions. The cost would have been around $980,000 in monetary relief, according to the case.
The Hill added:
Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered the Department of Justice (DOJ) this week to throw out lawsuits the Biden administration filed accusing police and fire departments around the country of discrimination when hiring candidates.
Bondi directed the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division on Wednesday to dismiss the federal civil rights lawsuits, arguing the prior administration “unjustly” went after fire and police departments for utilizing standard aptitude exams to comb through and help select their new employees.
“American communities deserve firefighters and police officers to be chosen for their skill and dedication to public safety – not to meet DEI quotas,” Bondi said in a statement, referring to diversity, equity and inclusion.
When former President Biden was in office, his DOJ filed lawsuits against several police and fire stations nationwide, looking to alter the written tests it said discriminated against Black applicants.
“Discriminatory employment tests do more than cost applicants a fair chance to compete for public service jobs like firefighting; they also prevent communities from being served in these crucial positions by the most qualified candidates for the job,” then-Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke said in October last year.
