Hollywood actor Jean-Claude Van Damme has been named in a criminal complaint alleging he knowingly engaged in sexual acts with Romanian sex trafficking victims.

The complaint, filed by Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), accuses the Street Fighter star of engaging in sexual acts with victims of a human trafficking ring while at an event in Cannes, France.

The women, presented as photo models, were given to Van Damme as a “gift” by a criminal group led by Romanian businessman Morel Bolea, known for pimping and trafficking women.

The alleged victim’s attorney, Adrian Cuculis, told CNN affiliate Antena 3, “The person who received those benefits knew their condition,” suggesting the Hollywood star was aware the women were trafficked.

“We are discussing an outrageous case that is not new for the Prosecutor’s Offices in Romania.

From the statements given in a case of trafficking in minors and human trafficking that started with the investigations since 2020, one of the victims told prosecutors in Iasi how at a certain point in Cannes, at an event organized by Jean-Claude Van Damme, several Romanians who are currently being investigated for forming a criminal group and pimping, allegedly offered Jean-Claude Van Damme five Romanian women — photo models in Romania — for him to have sexual relations with,” Cuculis said, according to the translated article.

“The person who received those benefits knew their condition. From the witness statements, it is very clear that Jean-Claude Van Damme knew that these people were being exploited,” he alleged.

The complaint also accuses the actor of violating Romania’s strict laws against human trafficking and exploitation, implicating him in a broader network of cross-border crime.

Proceedings are pending authorization from France’s High Court of Cassation, which will soon move to approve further legal action and allow for suspect depositions in Romania.

Van Damme has not yet publicly responded to the accusations.
