A Dejected AOC Releases Unhinged Pre-Inauguration Statement: ’21st Century Fascism’

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is among the large group of left-wing lawmakers, pundits and voters who are not taking President-elect Donald Trump’s impending inauguration well. In a series of dramatic video statement, the far-left congresswoman referred the incoming administration as “authoritarian” while making a number of bizarre predictions about Trump’s second term in the White House.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez will be one of 20 House Democrats who have vowed to skip Trump’s inauguration on Monday afternoon, a decision they are framing as a “boycott.” An additional three House Democrats have remained undecided, though even if they opt not to attend, the number of Democrats opting to skip Trump’s second inauguration has thinned out since 2017, when dozens of Democrats opted to “protest” the election result.

In a video statement uploaded to her Instagram story, a dejected AOC claimed, with a sigh, that the nation was “on the eve of an authoritarian administration.”

She went on to describe the popular-vote winning Trump movement as “21st Century fascism” before comparing it to Hungary, a free country with Democratic elections that happens to have a conservative leader. “And so you can look to see how Viktor Orban runs Hungary to get a taste of how they will try to govern and control media and companies in the United States. And this is a kind of an entree to that,” the congresswoman continued.

AOC then urged her followers to join the fledgling X clone BlueSky, a platform popular with the far-left. The company has bragged about employing the same censorship techniques used by the old Twitter system under Jack Dorsey and has hired a number of former Twitter employees to assist with that goal.

“As far as what we do, you know, some — this is a time of experimentation. A lot of people will still use platforms, can still use platforms, but I also look towards places where you have more ownership as well and develop your audiences there. Like Blue Sky, you own your audiences at protocol,” she said.

In a follow-up Instagram story, Ocasio-Cortez falsely labeled the incoming president as a “rapist.”

“All these journalists are like, Congresswoman, are you going to the inauguration? Congresswoman, are you going to the inauguration? Are you going to the inauguration?” she said while zooming her phone camera in-and-out. “Let me make myself clear. I don’t celebrate rapists. So no, I’m not going to the inauguration tomorrow.”

President-elect Trump has never been found guilty of rape or sexual assault in a civil or criminal trial. He was, however, found to have “defamed” E. Jean Carroll, an author who accused Trump of raping her in a busy Manhattan department store.

Carroll’s defamation case was brought under the Adult Survivors Act, a New York law that allowed alleged victims to file civil suits against their alleged attackers within a certain window, even if the state’s statute of limitations on the claim had expired.

The act allowed alleged victims to file claims within a one-year window that expired in November 2023. It is best known — or only known — for allowing Carroll to bring her claim against Trump without any evidence.

Carroll could not provide an exact date for when the alleged assault took place inside a bustling New York City department store, had no corroborating witnesses, told a story that matched an episode of Law and Order and once posted a hypothetical about having sex with Trump for money. She also described Trump as “sexy,” though much of this information was not allowed to be presented in civil court.

Despite the dubious nature of the case, a jury awarded Carroll with $83.3 million in damages after finding him liable for “battery.” The bulk of the penalty was awarded after a New York jury found that Trump “defamed” Carroll by defending himself against the accusation.

ABC News and host George Stephanopoulos recently agreed to a massive, multi-million-dollar settlement with Trump after Stephanopolous, like AOC, claimed Trump was convicted of rape.

According to the settlement, ABC News will pay $15 million as a charitable contribution to a “presidential foundation and museum to be established by or for the Plaintiff.” The network has also been ordered to pay an additional $1 million to cover the president-elect’s legal fees and will issue a formal apology.
