Judge Sheldon K. Rennie ruled Delaware lacks personal jurisdiction over Owens, while leaving Candace Owens LLC and GeorgeTom Inc. in the Macrons’ defamation case.

A Delaware Superior Court judge has dismissed Candace Owens personally from the defamation lawsuit filed by French President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron.

Judge Sheldon K. Rennie ruled that Delaware lacks personal jurisdiction over the Tennessee-based commentator.

The Oct. 27 order found that the Macrons did not properly invoke Delaware’s consent statutes and failed to establish the personal contacts needed to hale Owens into the state’s court.

Rennie’s ruling does not end the case. The court refused to dismiss the Macrons’ claims against Candace Owens LLC and GeorgeTom, Inc., the Delaware entities that run and distribute Owens’ media operation.

The judge also deferred a final decision on whether the suit survives under the applicable French statute of limitations.

The Macrons filed the case in July 2025 over statements tied to Owens’ “Becoming Brigitte” series and related content. JP reported that the corporate defendants remain in the fight while Owens herself is out of the Delaware action.

Owens announced the personal dismissal in a post Monday night. The court record shows that Judge Rennie granted the defense motion only in part: Owens is dismissed; her two Delaware-registered companies remain.
