“While at least one actor of color was nominated for each of the televised acting categories, all went empty-handed,” the outlet reported.

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Monday evening, and the Washington Post issued a piece the following day complaining that none of the 12 actors or actresses who won “major” awards at the prestigious ceremony were people of color.

“While at least one actor of color was nominated for each of the televised acting categories, all went empty-handed,” the outlet reported, “renewing discussion about diversity in Hollywood and reminding some viewers of the 2021 ceremony, which resulted in the #emmyssowhite hashtag going viral.”

The Post said that the lack of people of color actors and actresses winning “could be the result of the least diverse nominations in over a decade.”

Winning on Monday evening in the Comedy category were Matthew Rhys for Lead Actor for Widow’s Bay, Jean Smart for Lead Actress for Hacks, Stephen Root for Supporting Actor for Widow’s Bay, and Kate O’Flynn for Supporting Actress for Widow’s Bay.

Winning in the Drama category was Noah Wyle for Lead Actor for The Pitt, Rhea Seehorn for Lead Actress for Pluribus, Tom Pelphrey for Supporting Actor for Task, and Allison Janney for Supporting Actress for The Diplomat.

Winning on Monday evening in the Limted/Anthrology Series or Movie was Matthew Rhys for Lead Actor for The Beast in Me and Sally Field for Lead Actress for Remarkably Bright Creatures. Earlier in September at the Creative Arts Emmys, which are part of the 78th Primetime Emmys, David Harbor won Supporting Actor and Linda Cardellini won Supporting Actress, both for DTF St Louis.

Users on social media mocked the outlet for complaining about the race of those winners. One user wrote, “Maybe there weren’t any good ones? Why always the race card?”

Another wrote, “Can you point to a nominee who won who you think was undeserving and you believe won because of race?”

“Do you really think the academy is racist?  Is that your implication?”
