UPDATE: 5 Dead After Amazon Cargo Plane Overshoots Runway | JP
We have an unfortunate update for you.
As JP covered earlier, an Amazon cargo plane overran a runway and struck multiple vehicles and then caught fire.
Now the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has revealed 5 people have been reported dead from the accident and five others were injured.

Fox News provided the latest update on the tragic incident:
At least five people were killed, and five others were injured at Miami International Airport on Sunday after an Amazon cargo plane overran the runway, struck multiple vehicles and caught fire while landing.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that there were at least 10 victims involved in the crash, which happened when Prime Air flight 7598 overran Miami International Airport’s diagonal runway at about 2 p.m. local time.
Fire Chief Rey de Darla said three people were taken to a trauma center in critical condition and two others were transported to a local hospital.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said the rescue team “was there within seconds of the crash.”
Fire officials are still working to contain a fuel leak caused by the crash, according to de Darla.
“We do still have an active fuel leak that’s occurring off of the aircraft that is being mitigated,” de Darla said.

WTNH provided a statement from Amazon:
Amazon said in a statement that it would cooperate with any investigation.
“We’re heartbroken to learn that five people lost their lives in today’s incident at Miami International Airport,” the company said. “Our deepest sympathies go out to the families, loved ones, and all those affected by this devastating loss.”
Jackson Lee, who runs an electronics shop near the crash site, went outside with four colleagues after the crash and saw smoke rising near the airport’s fences, Lee said.
“We hear planes taking off and landing every five minutes. I thought I’d got used to it,” Lee said. “I never thought it could come this close to us.”
