Francesca Hong: Will a Mentally Unstable Woman Become Wisconsin’s Next Governor?

More than 50 percent of young, liberal, white women have been diagnosed with some form of “mental health” problem. This research-born finding — and the fact that psychological diagnoses are now “in” — may help explain something, too.

That is, one Francesca Hong.

Hong, in case you haven’t heard, is the Democrats’ presumptive nominee for the Wisconsin governorship. And, no, she’s not a white woman, but plenty of young white women are supporting her. (Approximately 70 percent of women 18-29 hail Hong.) However much she reflects them, too, Hong is, well, quite a piece of work.

First, she’s a socialist and quite possibly a closet communist (if there’s a difference), as so many “socialists” are. She has the radical left-wing beliefs to prove it, too. But then there’s also this:

By her own admission, she

• has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, an incurable problem (at least given our current knowledge);
• had a mental breakdown;
• was hospitalized in a psychiatric ward;
• engaged in self-harm by cutting; and
• overdosed on lithium.

Okay, but that was quite a while ago. More recently, however, Hong was distressed at seeing “to[o] many old white people” in a state full of them.

The candidate also supports all today’s crazy uber-left positions. She endorses sexual-distortion treatments (aka “gender-affirming care”) for minors; i.e., pretending you can turn a boy into a girl. In addition, she

• called to defund and abolish the police;
• dreams of a “world without prisons”;
• demanded immediate abolition of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), describing it as a “fascist brigade”;
• wants to ban law-enforcement cooperation with ICE;
• wants public grocery stores and a state-owned public bank; and
• has called to “Cancel Thanksgiving,” calling it the “celebrating [of] colonialism.”

Not Exactly the Girl Next Door

Writing about Hong Saturday, commentator Andrea Widburg tells us:

Francesca Hong, 37, is making a name for herself…. There’s just one problem: She has a very serious mental illness that would see a rational electorate disqualify her.

Hong is the American-born daughter of immigrants from South Korea. Hong herself is a college dropout who chose instead to become a chef. She and her former husband eventually had a small restaurant in Madison, but COVID restrictions killed the business.

Some might think this would become a “red pill” moment, that old “mugging” that turns a leftist to conservatism. Nope. In Hong’s case, she apparently decided to enter politics and try to kill other businesses statewide. (“If I can’t have it, no one can”?) Widburg continues:

Hong is also a deep red socialist. While in the Wisconsin state legislature, in addition to pushing to teach Asian American history, she also worked to advance socialist policies….

She vows to continue thus working, too. Here’s a partial list of her aims (I’m quoting Widburg):

• Universal or heavily subsidized child care [so the state will have more time to brainwash the kids].
• Universal paid family and medical leave.
• Universal school meals.
• A state role in reducing health-care costs and moving toward universal coverage.
• A $20-per-hour minimum wage….
• A new income-tax bracket for millionaires and higher taxes on wealthy individuals and some businesses. [That’s how you drive wealth out of your state.]
• Publicly owned or publicly operated services, including a state public bank. [This way, you don’t have to go to the motor-vehicle bureau to have a motor-vehicle-bureau experience.]

Able — or Unstable?

Now, despite the above, Hong very well may be Wisconsin’s next governor. In fact, she’s statistically tied among likely voters with the probable Republican nominee, Tom Tiffany. She also somewhat reflects what I’ve called the Luciferian Beauty Factor (LBF). As with so many other Democratic Socialists of America members (e.g., Zohran Mamdani, James Talarico), Hong is young and physically attractive. In contrast, Tiffany is your more typical elderly political candidate.

Where Hong is lacking LBF-wise, however, is in the charisma department. As to this, she actually does come off as unstable. Regarding her history in this area, consider the following tweet.

And here’s what Hong stated in the aforementioned interview:

“At 18, I had a mental breakdown,” Hong told Meal Magazine. “I didn’t actually walk at my high school graduation because I had been hospitalized for a week at a child psychiatric hospital. I just felt like nothing had meaning anymore. It was a numbness that took over, and a pain that I couldn’t describe. I couldn’t feel anymore, and that scared the hell out of me. And I found myself self-harming to feel something… It was cutting. I was diagnosed with bipolar disease. I was taking SSRIs and I’d overdosed on lithium.

Many note that this was almost 20 years ago. As Widburg points out, however, bipolar disorder is a “forever disease.”

Now, to be clear, this is not something to be mocked. I have vast second-hand experience with bipolar disorder and, whatever causes it, it’s a serious, life-rending problem. Those enduring it deserve compassion and all the help we can muster, too. Yet what they don’t deserve is being vaulted into high-stress positions of extreme power, where lives are at stake.

And regarding Hong’s possible current instability, just take a look at her below, answering a recent question from a reporter. Note her facial movements at the video’s opening.

Such facial contortions would seem to reflect the suppression of intense negative emotion. She was clearly stressed and upset.

The Matter’s Crux

This said, as I pointed out with Graham Platner, the disgraced ex-senatorial candidate from Maine, even more troubling than Hong’s past is the person she is today. Just consider her anti-white sentiments, expressed in the tweet below.

So let’s be clear. She lied to her child because she was angry over there being too many whiteys around her. Then there are her crazy positions, mentioned earlier. And she hates Thanksgiving, too. Yeah, she sounds nice.

And she just may — to many voters today — especially younger ones. After all, related the Washington Free Beacon June 16:

“Forty-seven percent of surveyed [college] seniors indicated that they experienced mental illness at some point in their time at Harvard, and 13 percent said they were unsure,” according to a survey.

And on Saturday I reported on a feted British academic who has done everything he can to make himself appear as having had mental handicaps. Where such crosses once brought stigmas, now they’re badges of honor proving how much you’ve overcome. You’re to be deferred to — you’re a victim.

Unfortunately, too, this attitude just might lead to Wisconsin being victimized by a really bad choice in November.
