Maryland Gerrymandering Bill Would Hand Power to Pro-Abortion Democrats
Lawmakers in the Maryland General Assembly have been called back to Annapolis for a special legislative session on August 3-5, 2026 to introduce an amendment to the Maryland Constitution to enable brazen partisan gerrymandering of Maryland’s Congressional districts.
If passed, House Bill 2100 and Senate Bill 2100 would place the amendment on the ballot this November. The amendment would establish that redistricting rules used for Maryland General Assembly elections do not apply to federal elections.
What would that mean? What is their ultimate goal?
The ultimate goal is to further carve up Maryland’s Congressional map so pro-abortion Democrats can sweep all 8 Maryland districts, including the First District which is currently held by pro-life Congressman Andy Harris (R), the sole Republican in the Maryland delegation.
Unborn babies and their mothers will lose one of their strongest allies in Congress as a result of this gerrymandering scheme. Rep. Harris has faithfully served as a co-chair of the Pro-Life Caucus for many years and maintains a 100% pro-life voting record with National Right to Life.
The new Congressional map that will come forth as a result of this amendment will attempt to dilute and diminish your pro-life vote. It will leave hundreds of thousands of pro-life Marylanders without a single federal lawmaker in the state who shares our values.
This rushed gerrymandering scheme is not just a corruption of the constitutional amendment process, it is a shameless partisan power grab that will silence the voices of pro-life Marylanders as well as the nearly 50% of Maryland voters not registered as Democrats.
