Biden Judge Puts Women’s Lives at Risk by Ruling Against FDA Abortion Pill Regulations
Last week, on July 23, U.S. District Court Judge Robert Ballou, based in Virginia ruled that 2023 Food and Drug Administration restrictions on the distribution of the abortion causing drug Mifepristone did not meet required review standards and therefor the restrictions were not justified.
“The 2023 REMS modification is unlawful and must be remanded to the FDA for review,” Ballou wrote, using the acronym for the FDA’s Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies protocols.
Abortion businesses have long insisted that Mifepristone is safe and has no significant adverse reactions among the women that use it for abortions. This of course ignores the fact that the drug ends the life of a helpless unborn child.
The claims of these abortion promoters also fail to recognize the serious complications women have reported and that have been observed in recent reports. A study out of Finland published recently identifies extreme pain as a side effect acknowledged by 58% of women in the study.

The most extensive data on the risks associated with Mifepristone were provided in a 2025 analysis released by the Center for Ethics and Public Policy. ( https://eppc.org/stop-
- 10.93% of women experienced sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or another serious/life-threatening adverse event — over 1 in 10 patients.
- The adverse events are 22 times higher than the adverse event rate on the current FDA label.
Now to add insult to injury Virginia’s pro-abortion Attorney General, Jay Jones, has added the Commonwealth of Virginia to a coalition of 23 other states that are pressuring the FDA to reject any attempts to restore the much-needed safety restrictions previously in place on Mifepristone use in America.
The FDA has yet to complete the review of the drugs and provide guidance about the future distribution and handling of Mifepristone. There is no precise timeline for when their decisions will be made.
In the meantime, Virginia’s pro-abortion elected leaders seem determined to provide assistance to the reckless agenda of Virginia abortion promoters at the cost of women’s lives and safety as well as their unborn babies.
As Virginians prepare for the upcoming election cycle that includes a ballot question that will enshrine unlimited abortion in our Constitution we must push back against the actions taken by elected officials like Jay Jones.
We must Vote No on Ballot Question 1.
