They Euthanized My Mom and Told Me Her Ashes Were in the Mail

We don’t solve pain anymore we sedate it, ignore it, or euthanize it. What does that say about us?

Some moments don’t announce themselves. They unfold in quiet devastation. Canada and now so many others are living one of those moments.

The expansion of MAID, murder, killing isn’t a slippery slope. It’s a free fall. This isn’t about mercy anymore and to be honest, never has been. That’s always just been a marketing ploy to get you to accept killing your loved ones. It’s about the system saying, “We don’t know how to fix this so we’ll help you stop trying.”

I don’t believe in MAID at all for anything ever. It was meant for the terminally ill, those in unbearable pain with no hope. But in 2021, Bill C‑7 tore down the most fundamental safeguard: the requirement of a reasonably foreseeable death. Now? You don’t have to be dying. You just need to be suffering, from anything you can convince people is bad enough that you should die.

That “just suffering” has claimed thousands of lives. 15,341 Canadians in 2023 alone opted out of living not because their illness was terminal, but because our systems failed them.

A brutal case from Ireland should shock us all.

An Irish woman named Maureen Slough, age 58, left home lying to her family saying she was of on a trip to Lithuania. She didn’t return. Days later, her family received a WhatsApp message from a Swiss assisted‑dying (killing) clinic:

“Your mum is dead,” it said. “Her ashes are in the post.”

Maureen had struggled with mental illness and previous suicide attempts. She paid £13,000 to this clinic. The family never authorized it—yet the clinic claims they verified consent via an email they say was from her daughter. The daughter insisted she never sent it. The clinic claims verification. The family claims only confusion, grief, and disconnection.

Her ashes were literally mailed home like a package.

This is what happens when “choice” replaces care and empathy with expedience.

Brace yourself: by March 2027, Canada will expand MAID to those whose only condition is mental illness.

Depression. PTSD. Anorexia. Loneliness. These are not crimes, they are cries for help But instead we offer you DEATH.

I’ve been there. I’ve known those voices, hell I wrote an entire best selling book about it. But I also know the power of community, therapy, and human resilience.

Suggesting an ending rather than seeking another chance—that’s not compassion. It’s surrender.

Those that are offering death instead or sick, unwell killers, plain and simple.

This isn’t progress. It’s capitulation.

Because death is cheaper than housing. Death is faster than therapy. Death is final but help, care, funding? Those can be slow, expensive and yes, inconvenient.

We are legislating systemic failure.

Canada is failing its citizens DAILY and will continue to with DWDC lobbying all of the liberal MP’s.

Cancel the expansion of MAID to mental illness. It is not compassionate. It is dangerous. Invest in life, not death. Support mental health, housing, veterans programs, trauma recovery, and real palliative care.

If you’re thinking, “This doesn’t affect me…people need to have the option” you’re wrong and it couldn’t be further from the truth.

Once death becomes the easiest option…

…once choice is offered before remedy…

…once ash comes in the mail…

…we’ve crossed a line we CAN NEVER reclaim.

This is more than policy failure.

This is a collapse of moral responsibility.

We are not disposable.

Not now. Not ever.
