Italian PM Giorgia Meloni FUMES at President Trump Over “Completely Made Up” G7 Declare | JP
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is furious with President Trump.
In a video uploaded on social media captioned “Neither I nor Italy ever beg“ in Italian, Meloni raged against President Trump.
Why, you may ask?
Well, she claims that he “completely made up” a story about her begging him to take a photo with her at the G7 summit this week.

Here’s a translation of Meloni’s remarks to English:
So certain things deserve an immediate response. Donald Trump’s statements are completely made up. I am frankly stunned. I don’t know why the president of the United States behaves this way with his own allies. It’s not the first time this has happened. After all, I can only say it’s a shame he doesn’t show the same determination with the enemies of the West, with the enemies of the United States, with leaders with whom instead he proves to be much more accommodating. But he must remember one thing: Italy and I never beg.
JP also provided an English-dubbed version of Meloni’s video:
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni accused her one-time close ally Donald Trump of fabricating a story about her, after the US president told an Italian TV channel that she had ‘begged’ him to take a photo with her at the G7 summit https://t.co/lMm0HYeIZi pic.twitter.com/PCAtaSRv8j

PM Meloni’s video was made in response to comments that President Trump gave to an Italian news outlet about their recent meeting during the G7 summit in France.
Fox News shared those remarks:
Trump told an Italian news outlet that Meloni “begged” him to take a photo with her during the G7 earlier this week, which sparked strong rebuke from the prime minister and Italian diplomats. Before the recent strain over Iran, Meloni was widely viewed as one of Trump’s strongest allies on the world stage, even attending his 2025 presidential inauguration as the only European leader present.
“She wanted a picture with me so badly. I wouldn’t have taken it, but I felt sorry for her,” Trump said to La7 TV channel. “She’s probably happy I talked to her. I didn’t have to talk to her.”
Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani also backed Meloni up.
This morning, he suddenly canceled his visit to the U.S. over President Trump’s “offensive” remarks.
He released this statement on X:
Le gravi e offensive parole del Presidente Trump nei confronti del Presidente del Consiglio Giorgia Meloni offendono tutta l’Italia. Per questo motivo ho deciso di annullare la mia visita negli Stati Uniti prevista per i prossimi 21 e 22 giugno.
— Antonio Tajani (@Antonio_Tajani) June 19, 2026
Here’s the translation in English:
The serious and offensive words of President Trump towards Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni offend all of Italy. For this reason, I have decided to cancel my visit to the United States scheduled for the next 21 and 22 June.
Seems like a little over-dramatic reaction, doesn’t it?
However, this is just the most recent escalation of a growing feud between PM Meloni and President Trump.
Sadly, Meloni, who was once a strong ally of President Trump, has distanced herself from him over the conflict with Iran.
NBC News provided some additional background on their escalating feud:
Once regarded as one of Trump’s closest political allies in Europe, Meloni attended his inauguration in January 2025. She was the only European leader present at the ceremony.
Trump also has previously spoken warmly of Meloni, whose right-wing populist Brothers of Italy party was part of a broader rise in nationalist and populist movements across Europe.

When the two met at his Mar-a-Lago resort in January last year, Trump called her a “fantastic woman” who was “really taking Europe by storm.”
The latest war of words marks a dramatic downturn in relations between the two right-wing leaders.
Earlier this year, Meloni criticized Trump after he lashed out at Pope Leo XIV over the pontiff’s condemnation of the Iran war.
Trump responded by accusing the Italian prime minister of lacking courage, exposing divisions that had strained what was once viewed as a strong political partnership.
Meloni is largely being blasted on social media for her video fuming against President Trump.
Take a look at some of these responses:
Giorgia talks tough, “Neither I nor Italy ever beg”, while Muslim migrants keep flooding in and turning Italian streets into no-go zones. Empty words.

She had such promise. Has turned out to be quite weak and thirsty.

The exact moment the woman who’s obsessed with you realizes that you’re just not into her 😂 pic.twitter.com/pWY8FMpxwM

Trump is just not that into you.
Why don’t you show more energy and focus instead on deporting illegals and fake refugees out of Italy?

This X user makes a great point:
Well, not in the last few months you haven’t. But you beg for our help A LOT. pic.twitter.com/ad72uIvDcN
