Abortion Capsule Poisoning: The New Technique of Abusing Ladies

0

At the end of May, a young woman called the Abortion Pill Reversal Hotline desperate for help and for someone to believe her. Thankfully, the hotline nurse who answered her call at 4:00 a.m. was deeply concerned. Once again, a woman had been poisoned with abortion drugs and help was needed quickly.

This story is not an isolated case. Abortion pills are the new tool of those who would abuse, pimp, and traffic women. And they are readily available for purchase.

At ten weeks of gestation, “Annie” (a pseudonym used to protect her safety) noticed a prescribed medication she had been taking was “completely different than yesterday.” In a panic, she had called the police, who found an open case of abortion medications in the apartment she shared with her boyfriend. The person she loved had intentionally poisoned her and her preborn baby.

Annie shared that it had been a normal Monday morning when she arrived home from work. She was weary after a 12-hour shift, but noticed the shape and the color of a prescribed medication were different.

“I was confused and shaken at the idea of someone whom I loved so much not only willing to harm me but plotting to rip away the most precious part of me. The betrayal hit me hard, and I felt a pain indescribable to put into words. Tears streaming my face, I looked up the medication to piece together what was happening.”

And what she found online was alarming. “Every fear I had was confirmed. My boyfriend had swapped every pill out in hopes of me taking them.”

She continued. “A ticking clock sounded in my mind as I raced for the best option to save my baby.” She quickly made her way to the nearest emergency room to save her baby. Sadly, her pleas were not taken seriously. In desperation, she called her own obstetrician, who also refused to help her.

All other local providers as well as E.R. doctors, failed to acknowledge the severity of my situation or didn’t have proper training on reversal protocols.” After a quick search, she was able to find the support and help she needed through the Abortion Pill Rescue Network.

Some may ask – how could this happen when the abortion pill is a prescribed medication? How could a man who is not pregnant obtain many packs of these drugs?

It’s now just as common to purchase abortion drugs online as it is to go to an abortion facility to obtain them. Currently, 50% of the callers to the APR hotline have purchased their drugs online.

With few guardrails left to protect women, websites require little accountability, no evidence of pregnancy, no proof of identity. These are not “telehealth” visits. Most are solely online purchases with no “healthcare” included.

You don’t have to be female to buy an online abortion or confirmation of pregnancy. You could be 4 weeks gestation or 40 weeks, and you won’t be denied. You could have underlying health conditions and still make the purchase. On a variety of websites, you answer a few questions and enter your credit card number, and abortion drugs will be shipped to you very quickly.

This leaves space for what is known as reproductive coercion: using manipulation, threats, or violence to control a pregnancy decision. And in this case, because Annie’s boyfriend no longer wanted the baby, he made a pregnancy choice on her behalf by poisoning her with abortion pills.

Reproductive coercion may include:

  • Pressuring a partner to have an abortion she does not want.
  • Threatening to leave you if the pregnancy is continued.
  • Hiding or destroying prenatal vitamins or medical records.
  • Secretly administering abortion drugs.
  • Swapping medications.
  • Putting pills into food or drinks.
  • Lying about what a medication is.
  • Controlling a partner’s access to healthcare.
  • Monitoring a partner’s phone, internet activity, or communications.

Sadly, Annie shares what it was like to learn about her boyfriend’s crime, “As little girls, we have this idea that monsters are these unrealistic creatures under the bed. But as we grow up, the sad reality is that we’re often sleeping beside the real monsters every night.”

She had thought they were happy and were looking forward to having a child together. She said they were often sharing “I love you’s” and planning their future together.

After a two-year relationship, she learned of the pregnancy and shared that he was not pleased at first and asked her to abort the baby. But Annie was persistent; that wasn’t what she wanted. Surprisingly, he attended all of her ultrasound appointments and appeared to be “coming around” to the idea of having a baby together. Today, Annie shared, “I was sadly and almost tragically mistaken.”

When asked what advice she would give to other women who may unknowingly be in a similar situation, she warns that “with abortion drugs now readily available for purchase online, women should always be aware of your surroundings, trust your gut instincts and know when it’s time to get out.”

Thankfully, Annie acted quickly and found the help she needed at the APRN. She was connected with a local pregnancy help medical clinic where she received abortion pill reversal treatment and the wonderful news that her baby survived and he has a strong heartbeat.

Annie would like to protect others in her shoes, “I urge you – if your partner suggests abortion and refuses to accept your wishes to carry, please seek safety and get a protection order in place. My story is just one of many.”

“Let my story be a reminder today to stay aware and protect yourself and your pregnancy from the vile reality that is sadly becoming more and more common with easily accessible abortion medication.”

Today, Annie’s boyfriend is in jail. She is thankful for a healthy pregnancy, a team of medical professionals who took her circumstances seriously, and a baby boy she will deliver later this year. Unfortunately, Annie acknowledges that other women have not been as fortunate as she was.

“The abortion rescue team helped me when I felt I was running out of time. They helped me reach a provider. I’m sharing this today in hopes of helping the next. Don’t suffer in silence. Help is out there.”
