Iran Rejects Momentary Ceasefire, Sends 10-Level Counter to Pakistan-Mediated Plan – Journal Posts
Iran has delivered a formal response to a Pakistan-brokered proposal, rejecting a temporary ceasefire and instead pressing for a permanent settlement on its own terms.
The response, described as a 10-point plan, was transmitted via Pakistani intermediaries and calls for a comprehensive end to the conflict, including an immediate halt to regional fighting, sanctions relief, reconstruction support, and new guarantees governing transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
The proposal presented to both sides outlined a two-phase framework brokered by Pakistan, starting with an immediate ceasefire followed by broader negotiations that could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within days. The plan, referred to as the “Islamabad Accord,” included a 15–20 day window to finalize terms after an initial pause, with final talks expected in Islamabad.
Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has reportedly been in continuous contact with Vice President JD Vance, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi as negotiations continued, including earlier discussions of a possible 45-day ceasefire framework.
President Trump is expected to address the situation at a press conference scheduled for 1 p.m ET Monday.
