WATCH: Dem Rep. Storms Out Of Congressional Listening to When Confronted With Epstein Hypocrisy

U.S. Rep. Becca Balint (D-VT) stormed out of a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday when Attorney General Pam Bondi confronted her with her hypocritical views on the Jeffrey Epstein case.

The contentious hearing covered a number of topics, though Democrats placed a particular emphasis on the Jeffrey Epstein case. The recently signed Epstein Transparency Act mandated the release of more than three-million documents relating to the case, a tranche that included new emails from Epstein himself, new videos, and also thousands of unsourced or unverifiable allegations.

President Donald Trump has never been implicated in any of Epstein’s crimes despite extensive investigations and years of discussions on the case, a fact that has been admitted by staunchly anti-Trump outlets like the New York Times. Trump also had known animosity towards Epstein following previous social interactions in the 1990s, which culminated in Epstein being banned from the president’s Mar-A-Lago estate in 2007.

Trump also contacted the Palm Beach Police Department about Epstein’s activities, while Epstein had cordial relationships with elected Democrats until the time of his death in 2019. He further described Epstein’s mistress Ghislaine Maxwell — who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence on a sex-trafficking conviction — as “evil” and urged authorities to “focus on her,” calling her Epstein’s “operative.”

Still, Democrats spent much of the hearing focused on baseless and unproven claims of Trump’s involvement in the case. This led to a number of fiery exchanges, including one in which Bondi referred to Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) as a “washed up” lawyer.

Another testy exchange occurred when Rep. Balint asked about Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and his previous associations with Epstein. Bondi countered by asking why Balint never cared to ask her predecessor, Merrick Garland, about the Epstein case when President Joe Biden was in office.

She then noted that Balint refused to vote for a recent House resolution condemning antisemitism. “Oh! He is Jewish and we just wanna be clear. Do you want to go there Attorney General? Or do you want to go there?! Are you serious talking about antisemitism to a woman who lost her grandfather in the Holocaust?” an irate Balint responded. “Really?!”

Balint then stood up and stormed out of the hearing.

Bondi also sparred with Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), the fiercely anti-Trump Republican who co-authored the Epstein Transparency Act. Massie asked Bondi why the DOJ redacted the name of businessman Les Wexner, to which Bondi replied that his name was un-redacted within 40 minutes upon request.

The congressman countered by claiming this was only done because he caught them “red-handed.”

Bondi accused Massie of hypocrisy and “Trump derangement syndrome,” stating he had not pressed prior administrations on Epstein matters. Massie responded by claiming the Epstein case is “worse than Watergate,” though he did not provide any specifics or identify any individuals who are, in his words, being “shielded” by the Trump Administration.

When asked by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) if indictments were forthcoming for those tied to Epstein’s crimes, Bondi indicated that investigations were underway, but did not provide specifics. She also commented on Maxwell’s case and addressed rumors that clemency could be offered in exchange for information.

Bondi seemingly dismissed that claim, stating that she hopes Maxwell dies in prison.
