Distraught Savannah Guthrie Addresses Ransom Observe Reviews As Police Presence Will increase at Mom’s House
As one might imagine, when a loved one goes missing, each day that goes by without knowing they are okay and/or what happened is agonizing, and leads to an increased sense of desperation and helplessness the longer time goes on.
With the case of missing Arizona mother and grandmother, Nancy Guthrie, now into its fourth day, and with the family seemingly no closer to having any answers as to the 84-year-old’s whereabouts and well-being, the panic has clearly intensified amid statements from Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos that he believes Mrs. Guthrie may have been abducted as she was sleeping, and amid reports of a substance that looked like blood being found on the walkway near her front door.

The children of Mrs. Guthrie – daughter Annie, son Camron, and daughter Savannah, who is the co-host of the NBC News “Today Show” – released an emotional video Wednesday night, which was posted to Savannah’s Instagram account, where they talked about what a bright light their mother was, describing her as the “beacon” of the family and a strong woman of faith:
“Our mom is a kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light. She’s funny, spunky, and clever. She has grandchildren that adore her and crowd around her, and cuddle her with kisses,” the siblings’ message continued.
[…]
Annie echoed her sister’s sentiments, adding that the “light is missing” from their family’s lives without their mother.
“Nancy is our mother. We are her children, she is our beacon. She holds fast to joy in all of life’s circumstances. She chooses joy day after day. Despite having already passed through great trials of pain and grief,” she said, as Savannah tearfully held her head down.
Savannah Guthrie also mentioned her mom’s health issues, noting that “her heart is fragile” and that she is “in constant pain,” and needs her medications to live. She also addressed reports of a ransom note sent to a local Arizona TV station, saying the family was “ready to talk” but needed solid proof that Nancy Guthrie was alive:
We, too, have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk,” Savannah said.
Addressing the purported kidnapper, she added: “However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know — without a doubt — that she is alive, and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen.”

As of this writing, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office has not publicly shared whether they believe the ransom note – which reportedly demanded “millions” in Bitcoin – is legitimate, but there was an increased law enforcement presence at Nancy Guthrie’s home on Wednesday:
Police and what appear to be feds just showed up at Nancy Guthrie’s house. They are staging in the driveway and appear to be planning to do some kind of search.

As to reports that Savannah Guthrie’s brother-in-law, Tommaso Cioni (husband to Annie), is a person of interest or suspect, the sheriff’s office had this to say:
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department told TMZ on Feb. 4: “We have not identified a suspect or person of interest in this case. Detectives continue to speak with anyone who may have had contact with Mrs. Guthrie. We are also awaiting additional forensic results.”
[…]
An additional statement from the Sheriff’s Department read, “While we appreciate the public’s concern, the sharing of unverified accusations or false information is irresponsible and does not assist the investigation.”
Nancy Guthrie was last seen between 9:30 and 9:45 pm Saturday local time after family members dropped her off at her home. Anyone with information is urged to contact the sheriff’s office tip line at 520-351-4900 or 1-800-CALL-FBI.
