How Kendrick Lamar, Rosé and Extra Are Already Making Grammys 2026 Historical past
And the Grammy milestone goes to…
Though nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards were announced by the Recording Academy in November, several artists have already won big ahead of the award ceremony.
Take Kendrick Lamar, for example. With his nomination for Album of the Year for GNX, he is now the first rapper to receive five nominations in this category as a lead artist. What’s more is he is also the first solo artist ever to be nominated for this award with five consecutive studio albums.
Kendrick, who topped the list of nominees with nine nods total, also made Grammy history in a different way as for the first time, three albums were nominated for both Best Rap Album and Album of the Year. And joining GNX in that feat were Clipse, Pusha T & Malice‘s Let God Sort Em Out and Tyler, The Creator‘s CHROMAKOPIA.
In addition, with ROSÉ and Bruno Mars‘ nods for Record of the Year and Song of the Year for their track “APT.,” the Blackpink singer just became the first K-pop artist to receive a nomination as a main performer for one of the top four Grammy awards—which also includes Album of the Year and Best New Artist.
