Minneapolis agitator arrested for destruction, looting of FBI automobile amid anti-ICE riots
“Threatening law enforcement will never be tolerated. Nor will destroying and looting government property paid for by taxpayers.”
An arrest has been made in connection with the January 14 riot in Minneapolis that resulted in the destruction and theft of equipment from an FBI vehicle.
According to FBI Director Kash Patel, the FBI and its law enforcement partners arrested another individual tied to the incident, during which rioters damaged a federal vehicle and stole materials from inside. The individual allegedly used some of the stolen identification materials to threaten an FBI agent assigned to the Minneapolis field office, as well as the agent’s wife and child.
“We’ll have more details to share at a later time,” Patel wrote, adding his thanks to FBI agents “who continue to get after it every day.” He emphasized that “threatening law enforcement will never be tolerated. Nor will destroying and looting government property paid for by taxpayers.”
According to Fox 9, the January 14 incident occurred after protesters rioted in Minneapolis following a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation that resulted in a shooting. During the violence, activists tore a locked storage box from a federal vehicle and vandalized multiple law enforcement cars. Authorities later confirmed that equipment belonging to the FBI had been stolen during the chaos.
Law enforcement officials have said the stolen materials included sensitive items, prompting a broader investigation and efforts to recover the missing property. The arrest announced Sunday marks a significant development in that investigation, particularly given the alleged threats made against a federal agent and the agent’s family. Federal authorities said that additional information will be released as the case progresses.
Earlier in January, it was announced that a known member of the Latin Kings gang had been arrested in connection with the incident. Raul Gutierrez, 33, was arrested for allegedly stealing a rifle from the vehicle.
