Dems Accusing ICE Of ‘Homicide’ Are Begging For Vigilante Violence
Democrats have rushed to brand a Wednesday shooting involving ICE as “murder” and “state sanctioned execution.” After months of attacks against ICE agents, such rhetoric only serves one purpose: to justify more vigilante violence.
Renee Good was fatally shot Wednesday after accelerating her vehicle toward an ICE agent standing in front of it during an encounter in Minneapolis. The ICE agent fired what the Department of Homeland Security described as “defensive shots.” Notably, seconds before the shooting, law enforcement seemingly ordered Good to exit her vehicle — but instead, she tried to flee.
Nonetheless, Democrats have recklessly rushed to issue a verdict, that is, that the shooting was “murder.”
California Democrat Rep. Jimmy Gomez said on X: “This was the glove compartment of the mother your agents just murdered,” alongside a photo of what is presumably the inside of Good’s vehicle. Democrat New York Rep. Dan Goldman accused Stephen Miller of “inciting untrained thugs to murder Americans.”
Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said in a post on X that “an ICE agent murdered Renee Good,” and that the Trump administration is sanctioning “lawless violence.”
Self-described comedian Jimmy Kimmel held up a t-shirt on air that read: “Donald Trump Is Gonna Kill You” before discussing the events in Minneapolis. New York City communist Mayor Zohran Mamdani claimed that “an ICE agent murdered a woman in Minneapolis.” Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar said the Trump administration was responsible for “state violence.”
Leftist influencer Harry Sisson posted, “The ICE agent who shot that woman in the face and killed her in Minneapolis needs to be indicted on murder charges TODAY.” Former MSNBC co-host Krystal Ball posted Wednesday morning that it was “Looking like ICE thugs murdered an American protester.”
The statements are particularly egregious given that ICE agents have been victims of a spike in political violence, with an “ANTI-ICE” gunman killing two detainees in September when he shot up an ICE vehicle “motivated by hatred for ICE.” Just two months prior, alleged Antifa members attacked a separate ICE facility in Texas.
Given the extremely hostile scenario, calling an officer-involved shooting and apparent act of self-defense that is still under investigation “murder” is not merely a reckless accusation of wrongdoing. It is a declaration that the state itself is acting criminally. And if that assertion is true, it implies the state is illegitimate. By that logic, if murder charges are not brought, the justice system is complicit in a cover-up of violations by an illegitimate state. Suddenly, illegal obstruction of law enforcement and violent protesting begin to look justifiable or even like a moral obligation.
Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett said Thursday, “There are gonna be protests around this entire country because of the state sanctioned execution that we all saw.”
Of course, protesting is protected free speech, but the left made clear during the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020 just how dangerous their so-called “peaceful” protesting can be. Democrats accusing ICE of “murder” are not de-escalating tensions. They are actively laying the groundwork for violence.
