WATCH: Minneapolis Mayor Seems To Wrestle By Somali Meal In Failed Anti-Trump Stunt
A clip of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey traveled to a local Somali restaurant in attempt to rebuke President Donald Trump, though he has since gone viral for all the wrong reasons after he appeared to grimace repeatedly throughout the meal.
Mayor, a Democrat who just won re-election in a tightly-contested race against a Somali challenger, traveled to the restaurant after President Trump’s recent comments on Minnesota’s sizable Somali community. The president recently unleashed into a scathing rant about the community due to multi-billion-dollar public welfare scams in the state, overall social disorder and comments from Somali political leaders like Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who has suggested that she places her loyalty to Somalia above that to the United States.
“We could go one way or the other, and we’re gonna go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country. Ilhan Omar is garbage. She’s garbage. Her friends are garbage. These aren’t people that work,” the president told reporters earlier this week.
“These aren’t people that say, ‘let’s go, come on, let’s make this place great.’ These are people that do nothing but complain. They complain. And from where they came from, they got nothing. You know, they came from paradise, and they said, ‘this isn’t paradise.’ But when they come from hell, and they complain and do nothing but b**ch, we don’t want them in our country.”
Mayor Frey and other Minnesota Democrats responded by claiming that the Somali community is vital to the state’s success while accusing Trump of spreading “hate.”
“Somali Americans are Americans. Their nation is America. And we are proud to have these Americans in Minneapolis,” Frey posted on X in response to Trump’s comments.
On Friday, Frey traveled to a local Somali restaurant in order to meet with community leaders, one of whom urged him to try a dish of Cambuulo — which consists of a mixture of cooked adzuki beans and either wheat berries or corn. “Mix it, mix it,” the onlooker says, at which point Frey took a bite and said “it’s delicious.”
Social media users were quick to pounce on another angle of the visit, however, as Frey appeared to look uncomfortable while eating. “Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey holding on for dear life as he dines in a Somali restaurant to stick it to Trump,” said one social media user in response to Frey’s apparent grimaces. “This is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen.”

“Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey on the verge of throwing up as he forces down a Somali dish in protest of President Trump,” remarked conservative commentator Benny Johnson.
“Every time I rewatch this, I find something new to love. The pained look on his face. The constant chewing but not swallowing because he isn’t sure he can keep it down if he does. The frenetic pointless rearranging of the slop in the bowl to give the appearance of engaging with the meal while doing everything possible to not eat it,” wrote The Federalist editor Sean Davis.
Jacob Frey struggles not to vomit as he performs his most humiliating ritualistic pandering since crying beside George Floyd’s coffin.

President Trump was speaking in reference to the sprawling, multi-million-dollar welfare fraud scandals involving Minnesota’s sizable Somali population.
The most notable among them was the Feeding Our Future scheme, for which prosecutors have racked up 56 criminal convictions in what they allege was a plot to steal $300 million from a federally funded program meant to feed children during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report from the New York Post.
More recently, the U.S. attorney’s office for the District of Minnesota has uncovered multimillion-dollar fraud schemes targeting the state’s Medicaid Housing Stabilization Services program and a federally funded autism services for children program. All in all, prosecutors estimate that billions of dollars in taxpayer funds have been stolen as a result of the various schemes.
Some of the looted taxpayer funds have been rewired to foreign terrorist organizations, including the Al Qaeda-affiliated al-Shabaab.
