Shots were fired at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on Saturday in Chicago, where the Trump administration has been cracking down on crime and illegal immigration, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The Department of Homeland Security posted to X, “Today, U.S. Border Patrol was conducting immigration enforcement operations near 26th Street and Kedzie Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, when an unknown male driving a black Jeep fired shots at agents and fled the scene. An unknown number of agitators also threw a paint can and bricks at Border Patrol’s vehicles. Chicago Police Department was called for assistance and cleared the scene. The shooter and vehicle remain at large, and this is a dynamic situation.”

“This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of violence and obstruction. Over the past two months, we’ve seen an increase in assaults and obstruction targeting federal law enforcement during operations. These confrontations highlight the dangers our agents face daily and the escalating aggression toward law enforcement. The violence must end,” DHS added.
One user on X also said that shots at the ICE agents were reported on the Citizen App.
The report of the shots fired at ICE agents come as there has been a reported 1,000 percent increase of attacks on ICE agents as immigration enforcement has picked up during the first year with Trump in the White House. Chicago, as well as other Democrat-led cities, have been of particular concern.
Along with the illegal immigration crackdown in Chicago, similar actions are being carried out in cities such as Portland, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC.
