Meet Bruce Springsteen’s 3 Youngsters: Evan, Jessica and Samuel
Bruce Springsteen might be the boss of rock ’n’ roll, but at home, he’s just Dad. His three children—Evan, Jessica and Samuel—have grown up mostly out of the public eye, forging their own paths while carrying the Springsteen legacy in their own ways.
Bruce and his wife, Patti Scialfa, welcomed their first child, Evan, in 1990, followed by daughter Jessica in 1991 and son Samuel in 1994. Though born in Los Angeles, the family eventually settled in Colts Neck Township, New Jersey, before moving to a sprawling 400-acre family farm.
“We had our kids late, I was 40 when our first son was born, and they showed a healthy disinterest in our work over all the years,” Bruce told The New York Times in 2017. “They had their own musical heroes, they had their own music they were interested in. They’d be pretty blank-faced if someone mentioned a song title of mine.”

Evan, the eldest, entered the world on July 25, 1990. Fatherhood had a major impact on Bruce, who reflected on it during his podcast with Barack Obama: “That is a gift you get from your children and from your wife… You know, I woke up. I felt as someone, not necessarily someone different, but someone so much further down the road than I thought maybe I’d ever get.”
Following his passion for music, Evan studied at Boston College and now works as a music programmer at Apple in New York City. He’s largely private but sometimes joins his father on stage and can be spotted at family events—a low-key way of staying close to rock royalty.

Jessica Rae, born in December 1991, has trotted a very different path—literally. The equestrian star discovered her love of horses as a child on the family farm. “I started riding when I was really little. Our home is right across the road from one of the top junior training barns—and I went right into that when I was a teenager,” she told People in 2020.
Jessica’s dedication paid off on the international stage. She competed for Team USA at the 2020 Summer Olympics (held in 2021) and won a silver medal in team jumping. She’s been dating Lorenzo De Luca since 2019, and even with fame in her family, Jessica keeps her focus on the sport she loves.
Samuel Ryan Springsteen
Youngest of the bunch, Samuel, was born in 1994 and has charted a quieter path. He became a New Jersey firefighter after graduating from the Monmouth County Fire Academy in 2014 and passing the civil service exam in 2017. Patti celebrated her son’s achievements on Instagram, writing, “Follow that dream. SO PROUD and Happy for you!!”
Samuel also welcomed his first child in 2022, giving Bruce and Patti their first grandchild, Lily Harper Reph Springsteen. Clearly, the Springsteen family keeps the music, horses, and heroics going strong—but always with a healthy dose of family first.
