NY Legal professional Basic Letitia James Anticipated to Be Indicted by Federal Prosecutors
New York Attorney General Letitia James will be indicted for mortgage fraud “in the coming days,” according to numerous reports circulating on Twitter.
Some reports also claim former FBI Director James Comey will be indicted as well.
The news comes just days after President Donald Trump urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to take “action” against Comey, James, and other political enemies.
Watch:
Yahoo reports that MSNBC’s Ken Dilanian stated Comey is “expected to be indicted in the coming days” in Virginia, adding that the “full extent of the charges” is “unclear.”
Soon after, CNN reported the Justice Department was “nearing a decision” on whether to charge Comey with “lying to Congress.”
Dilanian, during an appearance on MSNBC, said his reporting is based on three sources. He told host Katy Tur it is a “fluid situation” that may change, although the investigation is currently focused on whether Comey lied about authorizing leaks to the press.
He also said the Justice Department is “expected to charge Letitia James with mortgage fraud.”
Wednesday’s reports come after the president called on Bondi to charge Comey and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) for pushing claims that Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election. Trump said the lack of charges against Comey and his other rivals was “killing” his administration’s credibility.
“They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!” Trump posted on Truth Social on Saturday night.
Trump has repeatedly ripped Comey and Schiff in the past for pushing what he calls bogus claims that he colluded with Russia.
In 2023, Trump labeled Schiff a “sleazebag and traitor” who “should be prosecuted for the damage he has done” to the United States. He has also criticized Comey numerous times for leading what he called the Russia “witch hunt.”
Ironically, many of Comey’s critics argue that he helped elect Trump in 2016 by releasing a letter announcing the FBI was actively investigating Hillary Clinton’s email use as secretary of state.
