Hunter Doohan Responds to Rumor His Husband Is Jealous of Jenna Ortega

Hunter Doohan is setting the record straight when it comes to his personal life. The Wednesday star, 31, recently opened up about false rumors that his husband, Fielder Jewett, is jealous of his close working relationship with Jenna Ortega — and he isn’t amused.

In a new episode of Tommy DiDario’s “I’ve Never Said This Before” podcast, per Journalposts, released Tuesday, September 9, Doohan admitted he’s “been struggling with how much” of his personal life to share publicly since the massive success of Wednesday.

“The Wednesday fans, every interaction I’ve had with them in real life has been so great. And online [everything] is mostly positive,” he explained. “It’s not the fans of the show — there’s honestly been these weird videos on TikTok that have spread rumors about me and Jenna and Emma [Myers] and other cast member’s personal lives are just so not true.”

Doohan said that dealing with misinformation has made him feel torn. “This stuff gets spread around and people believe it. Sometimes it makes me want to protect myself more and not share anything from my personal life, and sometimes I want to comment on [it],” he admitted. “Surely people aren’t believing this s***?”

The actor, who stars as Tyler Galpin in Netflix’s hit series, quickly became a fan favorite after his character’s relationship with Ortega’s Wednesday Addams evolved from love interest to complicated nemesis. Their onscreen chemistry inspired plenty of fan edits, but also some wild online speculation about the actors’ real-life friendships.

“I got to go to Sydney for an event for part 2 of Wednesday season 1, but I couldn’t go to the London premiere because I was here [in New Zealand] shooting [a movie],” Doohan shared. “I even posted it where I was like, ‘Oh, I wish I could be there.’ And there’s rumors — I saw one where Jenna didn’t allow me to go, which is so not true. There was a rumor that my husband didn’t let me go because he is jealous of Jenna. I was like, ‘You guys. Can we be so f***ing for real right now?’”

Doohan, who tied the knot with Jewett in 2022, called the rumors “ridiculous.” He added, “My husband — for the record — did not tell me not to go to the Wednesday premiere because he’s jealous of Jenna. Grow up.”

He went on to defend both his marriage and his friendship with Ortega. “I love her to death. It’s so stupid. It’s something like — why even say it [when it is] so ridiculous? Because I think most people see through it. But then we get these, like, crazy messages or he gets these crazy messages and it’s just so insane.”
