The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity is reshaping routes and resources in the southern Caucasus, and the Anatolia region.

Türkiye began building a 224 km railway from Kars to the Dilucu border gate, linking directly to Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan exclave.

This strengthens Türkiye-Azerbaijan trade & transport; anchors Zangezur Corridor/TRIPP project, creating a new route bypassing Iran and Russia.

Türkiye is on the brink of a new era in logistics and foreign trade, as a recent peace deal between Azerbaijan and Armenia is set to open a strategic transit corridor through the South Caucasus, reports Daily Sabah.

The Zangezur Corridor that passes through Armenia and links the bulk of Azerbaijan’s territory to its Nakhchivan exclave that borders Türkiye is a key part of the agreement signed at a trilateral summit hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump last week.

Experts suggest the corridor could offer Türkiye new integration pathways in energy, transportation and digital infrastructure. With railways, oil and gas pipelines and fiber-optic networks planned along the route, Türkiye could emerge as a regional gateway for energy and communications.

India is also looking at how the corridor will impact its trade routes.

The deal for the corridor is bound to impact Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s political standing, as he enjoys only 13 per cent approval ratings within Armenia. Consensus evades Armenia on this deal. The opposition is mainly because Armenia has given too much without quid pro quo to Azerbaijan and the United States, without tangible returns. There is bound to be opposition to this deal in the next year’s election in Armenia, which will likely impact the deal’s longevity, writes First Post.

For Iran, the eventuality of an American presence adjacent to its restive, Azeri-populated Northwestern province poses a direct threat to the regime’s stability. An emboldened Baku has the wherewithal to fuel Azeri nationalist sentiment within Iran, potentially reviving dormant aspirations for autonomy or outright independence.
