DNC Self-Own: Anti-Trump Post Backfires, Accidentally Exposes Biden’s Inflation Crisis

Democrats have been in free fall amid the endless crackdowns on illegal immigration, the passage of the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” and party leadership in disarray.

However, nothing highlighted their plight more than the misfire of a social media attack on President Donald Trump over the high cost of grocery prices.

Social media staffers at the Democratic National Committee were forced to retract their anti-Trump attack after receiving backlash for unintentionally revealing that a period of persistently high prices had mostly occurred under President Joe Biden.

Since Trump took office, the cost of groceries like bread, milk, eggs, and other perishables has mostly flattened out.

The official DNC account posted “Trump’s America” with a graph showing a surge in the prices of cheese, alcohol, groceries, dairy, produce, and meat since 2019.

But it wasn’t long before a correction came, with Trump allies posting an illustration of their own, pointing out that 80% of the chart—including the years with rocketing price increases—took place during Biden’s tenure.

Some users pointed to Democrats’ lack of critical thinking skills for their current morass.

“No wonder the DNC barely scrapes by, they are not the brightest,” one user wrote while quoting the DNC’s post, which has since been scrubbed.

“Self-own by the Democrats,” declared another.

The setback was another stark reminder of how badly off-message Democrats remain after being shut out of power through 2026.

They have long trailed GOP attacks on Biden, who has been saddled with the high price of eggs, butter, and other everyday goods—even drawing confusion from MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough.

Trump, on the other hand, escaped unscathed after framing the continued high prices as a holdover from the aggressive spending of the Biden era.

Republicans will return home to their districts next month and are expected to tout tax savings in the Big, Beautiful Bill as their contribution to helping American households afford the rising cost of food.

Democrats like Hunter Biden are still trying to drag the party’s discourse back to the treatment of his father.

Meanwhile, DNC Chair Ken Martin is grappling with anemic fundraising and insider fighting following the ouster of former co-vice chair David Hogg and skepticism from labor leaders who doubt his rudderless leadership.

The party’s standing remains at record lows, according to polling, as Trump and the GOP are on the ascendancy with minority voters.
