Speaker Johnson Drops Bombshell: Obama May Face Subpoena for Treasonous 2016 Plot

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) revealed that Congress may issue a subpoena to former President Barack Obama over allegations of a coordinated plot against President Donald Trump involving Russia during the 2016 presidential election.

Johnson confirmed during an interview with reporter David Brody that he is considering the move amid concerns about the integrity of the nation’s intelligence processes and the alleged misuse of federal power.

“I think we have a responsibility to follow the truth, where it leads,” Johnson said.

“To do effectively the opposite of what that other team did — they were engaged in a partisan political plot to take down their foe in the other party. We need to be about the rule of law and bring an order to the chaos and searching out the truth because the American people are owed those answers.”

Johnson said that if Obama had any involvement in directing or approving intelligence activity that targeted Trump’s campaign, then he should be held accountable.

“If it’s uncomfortable for him, he shouldn’t have been involved in overseeing this, which is what it appears to us has happened,” Johnson said.

His remarks came on the heels of statements made by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who claimed that newly released records show coordination at the highest levels.

Watch:

“There was a treasonous conspiracy in 2016 committed by officials at the highest level of government,” Gabbard said.

She added:

“Their goal was to subvert the will of the American people and enact what was essentially a years-long coup with the objective of trying to usurp the president from fulfilling the mandate bestowed upon him by the American people.”

Gabbard also accused the Obama administration of engaging in an “egregious abuse of power and blatant rejection of our Constitution,” adding such conduct “threatens the very foundation and integrity of our democratic republic.”

Gabbard said Obama and members of his national security team “manufactured and politicized intelligence to lay the groundwork” for linking Trump to Russian election interference claims.

“The implications of this are, frankly, nothing short of historic,” Gabbard continued.

“Over 100 documents that we released on Friday really detail and provide evidence of how this treasonous conspiracy was directed by President Obama if just weeks before he was due to leave office after President Trump had already gotten elected.”

“This is not a Democrat or Republican issue — this is an issue that is so, so serious, it should concern every single American because it has to do with the integrity of our democratic republic,” Gabbard said.

The news comes amid growing calls within the House Republican Conference to revisit the origins of the Russia investigation and to determine whether senior officials improperly leveraged federal intelligence assets against Trump’s campaign.
