Joy Reid Stammers as Piers Morgan Exposes Her Past ‘Homophobic’ . – WATCH

Former MSNBC host Joy Reid was left stuttering after being confronted with her own reticence about LGBT entertainment during a confrontational interview this week.

Reid sparred with Piers Morgan on his show, where the former CNN anchor took aim at her views on Brokeback Mountain, the 2005 film about two gay cowboys that garnered controversy for its explicit sex scene.

“Have you watched Brokeback Mountain?” Morgan asked.

“Because you said ‘I don’t want to watch the two male characters in Brokeback Mountain having sex,’” replied the host as he read a comment made by Reid at the time.

Following an awkward pause, Reid began to sputter like an Obama Cash for Clunkers trade-in.

“Okay, what does me watching Brokeback Mountain have to do with that book [and] whether or not it is pornographic?” she fired back in reference to a tendentious children’s book both were discussing.

Trying again, she continued:

“That book– that is a book that people can have the opportunity to read if they so choose,” she added.

“I’m not talking about the book!” Piers tried to interject.

“And I don’t understand how an organization can make a decision… it is not about the book!” Reid ranted while waving her hands in front of the camera. “It is not about the movie.”

“Joy! I’m not talking about the book!” an exasperated Piers repeated.

The host challenged Reid to simply express contrition for her past belief.

“You said you would not watch Brokeback Mountain because you ‘don’t want to see two male characters having sex,’” he said.

“‘Does that make me homophobic? Probably. Most straight people cringe at the sight of two men kissing.’ Your words, not mine, Joy,” said Piers as he silenced Reid with the rest of her own words.

Reid again asked Piers to make a point — one he brought home with a truly epic takedown.

“Maybe that makes you a bit of a hypocrite when you’re taking a position of being an ally of the LGBTQ community. And actually the best way to handle it, I would argue, is to say you know what, I did write that at the time, they’re not my views now. I’ve learned, I’ve evolved, I’ve moved on. Trying to pretend even now is preposterous, and I think you know that!”

Reid acknowledged harboring past homophobic views.

“I’ve taken responsibility for everything that was on that site. I’m deeply apologetic for the things that were on that site that hurt people, and I’ve taken responsibility because it was my site, and that’s the end of that,” she replied.

In 2024, Reid reported on Moms for Liberty, a conservative organization of parents pushing for the elimination of LGBT curriculum in the classroom.

She has drawn praise from LGBT advocates like GLAAD for her combative interview with the group’s president.

“You’re still trying to make decisions for all kids,” she challenged Tiffany Justice on her show “The ReidOut,” which was terminated last year amid a sagging ratings crash.
