Where Does Ginny & Georgia Take Place? Show's Town, Filming Locations
Nobody does small-town charm like a New England town on a TV show. Fans of Ginny & Georgia have fallen in love with the idyllic views shown in the Netflix series, which is set to drop its third season on June 5, 2025. But where exactly is this picturesque little suburb depicted on our TV screens, and is it even a real place? Life & Style breaks down everything to know about the town in Ginny & Georgia and the show’s real-life filming locations.
Where Does ‘Ginny & Georgia’ Take Place?
In season 1 of Ginny & Georgia, Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey) and her two kids, Ginny Miller (Antonia Gentry) and Austin Miller (Diesel La Torraca), move from Texas to the small town of Wellsbury, Massachusetts. The scenic municipality is home to fun events like the Annual Fall Festival, as well as popular hangouts like the Blue Farm Café.
Georgia became inspired to move to Wellsbury as a teen when she met Joe (Raymond Ablack), a Wellsbury resident who would one day own the café, at a rest stop while he was on a field trip with his school. She was determined to give Ginny the same comfortable small-town life that she had seen Joe living that day.
Is Wellsbury, Massachusetts, a Real Place?
Don’t go planning a road trip just yet. Unfortunately, Wellsbury is not a real place. However, fans have theorized that it was inspired by other towns in Massachusetts, including Wellesley and West Newbury.
Where Was ‘Ginny & Georgia’ Filmed?
Ginny & Georgia is full of plot twists, and the story behind its filming is no exception! As it turns out, the show isn’t filmed in Massachusetts at all — nor is it filmed in the U.S. It was mostly shot at indoor sound stages at TriBro Studios in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, according to IMDb. Additional scenes showcasing Wellsbury were filmed in the nearby town of Cobourg, Ontario.
Like the town of Wellsbury, Cobourg has plenty of charm to offer its residents and visitors. It’s often referred to as the “gem of Lake Ontario,” featuring a boardwalk and beach, a historic downtown, a waterfront hiking trail and more, according to the town’s website.
Wellsbury’s Blue Farm Café was filmed at a restaurant called The El on King Street, according to Netflix Life, while Wellsbury Town Hall is actually Cobourg’s 19th century Victoria Hall. Other scenes were filmed “along King Street in Downtown Cobourg, the Parkdale-High Park district in York, Toronto, and the defunct Nelson A. Boylen Collegiate Institute,” according to the outlet.
Scenes outside Ginny and Marcus Baker’s (Felix Mallard) homes were reportedly filmed “outside houses in the Baby Point residential neighborhood in Toronto,” according to Decider.
In 2019, the town of Cobourg took to X to share photos of American flags hanging outside of local businesses as Netflix filmed scenes for Ginny & Georgia.
“COMMUNITY: We are still Cobourg, Canada! Just a fun reminder that @NetflixCanada2 is in town filming Ginny & Georgia. They are touching up some of our Downtown Cobourg storefronts too!” the post read.
